2 Saint Charles Parish San Diego / Imperial Beach Page Two REFLECTION ON 10 YEARS Friday June 1, 2007 was the happiest day of my life. It did not start that way. I was very nervous from the moment I woke up. Once the ordination mass was over, I could breathe a sigh of relief. My ten years as a priest have been good years. A lot of giving and receiving. A lot of joys and sorrows. My first seven years as a priest were spent in Imperial County where I served at various parishes. It gets very hot there during the summer. It is there that I celebrated my first quinceañera, wedding & funeral. For the last few years, I have served in south San Diego. I may be away from the summer heat, but now I am closer to my family. I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve you. The seminary does its best to prepare a man for priesthood but ultimately it is the role of the parish(es) to teach that man how to be a priest. I thank you for molding me not into the priest I want to be, but into the priest you need to serve you, your family and the parish. Please forgive me if I have failed you in any way. As I mark my 10-year anniversary, I ask God to continue blessing my priesthood and the people that I serve. Together we will continue to walk in the path of the Lord. Thy Kingdom come! Prayer Quilt Ministry St. Charles Prayer & Squares meet the first Saturday of each month, 8:30-10:30AM, in the Nutrition Center. 5 Page Five Domingo de Pentecostés 4 de Junio de 2017 REFLEXION DE 10 AÑOS El viernes 1 de junio 2007 fue el día mas feliz de mi vida. No empezó así. Estaba nervioso desde el momento que desperté. Ya que acabo la misa de ordenación, pude respirar tranquilamente. Mis diez años de sacerdote han sido buenos años con muchos momentos de dar y recibir junto con momentos de alegrías y tristezas. Mis primeros siete años fueron en el Valle Imperial donde serví en varias parroquias. Se pone extremadamente caliente allí en el verano. Fue allí donde celebre mi primer quinceañera, boda & funeral. Estos últimos años he servido en el sur de San Diego. Estaré lejos del calor del verano, pero ahora estoy mas cercas a mi familia. Quiero darle las gracias por la oportunidad de servirles. El seminario hace lo mejor que puede en preparar al hombre para el sacerdocio pero es el papel de la parroquia (s) de enseñar a ese hombre como ser sacerdote. Les doy las gracias en formarme no en el sacerdote que yo quiero ser sino en el sacerdote que Uds. necesitan para servirles a Uds., su familia y la parroquia. Les pido perdón si les he fallado en algún momento. En esta reflexión de diez años, pido que Dios siga bendiciendo mi sacerdocio y la gente a quien sirvo.
