Minutes of the Meeting I. Call to order Patricia Trinidad, President, called the meeting to order at 2:50 p.m. Confirmation for Roll Call/Quorum established - 6 out of 10 members or 1 more than half of the members (YES) OR (NO) II. III. Public Comment / Introduce Guest Speakers Read / Approval of Minutes Members reviewed minutes from previous meeting. Motion was made by Debora Antonio to approve minutes as presented or as amended. The motion was seconded by Patricia Trinidad. IV. X The members voted to approve the minutes. Committee Reports/Officer V. Presentations VI. Old Business - Old business that was previously discussed (narrative) A parent shared his opinion on the problem with traffic. He said parents do not respect the school employees and other parents walking to get their children. We are in the process of hiring an ESL teacher to teach English to our parents.
We will be starting a parent portal for our parents and we will be adding computer skill based workshops. VII. New Business (New items for discussion / Action Items) The LCAP will be in Spanish. It will be translated this summer. New changes to the plan and it is aligned with State accountability system. LEA plan has new changes and modifications that need to be updated. Waiting to see how the Dashboard and LCAP align. EL students have progressed tremendously in meeting the reclassification criteria. Major improvement in student reading levels, decrease in tardies, less absences, and no suspensions. VIII. Recommendations from English Language Learner Committee CELDT will be changing into ELPAC. There will be more requirements in reading and writing. IX. Announcements /Comments and / or Concerns When does ELPAC start? It will start in August with initial tests. It will continue during state testing window in 2018. What happens when students do not pass the test? Students are grouped according to their proficiency level for ELD. They demonstrate ability and not a pass or fail test. Why are parents signing a form letter when their students are late? The letter they are signing is an acknowledgement that their child arrived late to school. X. Next Steps

Presentaciones Ningún VI. Asuntos Pendientes - Negocio que se discutió anteriormente (narrativa) Se habló de asuntos pendientes. Un padre compartió su opinión sobre el problema con el tráfico. Dijo que los padres no respetan a los empleados de la escuela y otros padres que caminan para tener a sus hijos. Estamos en el proceso de contratar a un maestro de ESL para enseñar inglés a nuestros padres.
Estaremos comenzando un portal de padres para nuestros padres y estaremos agregando talleres basados en habilidades de computadora. VII. Nuevos Negocios - Nuevos negocios que se discutió. (narrativa) El LCAP estará en español. Será traducido este verano. Nuevos cambios en el plan y está alineado con el sistema de responsabilidad del Estado. El plan LEA tiene nuevos cambios y modificaciones que necesitan ser actualizados. Esperando a ver cómo se alinean el Dashboard y el LCAP. Los estudiantes de EL han progresado enormemente en cumplir con los criterios de reclasificación. Mejora importante en los niveles de lectura de los estudiantes, disminución en las tardanzas, menos ausencias y sin suspensiones. VIII. Noticias / Comentarios y / o preocupaciones Cuándo comienza ELPAC? Comenzará en agosto con pruebas iniciales. Continuará durante la ventana de pruebas del estado en 2018. Qué sucede cuando los estudiantes no pasan la prueba? Los estudiantes se agrupan según su nivel de competencia para ELD. Demuestran habilidad y no una prueba de aprobado o no. Por qué los padres firman una carta cuando sus estudiantes llegan tarde? La carta que firman es un reconocimiento de que su hijo llegó tarde a la escuela. IX. Recomendaciones del Concilio de Niños de Habla Ingles CELDT se convertirá en ELPAC. Habrá más requisitos en lectura y escritura. X. Pasos siguientes
