Evaluating a proposal Three guiding principles: Objectivity each proposal is evaluated as it is written Accuracy you make your judgment against the official evaluation criteria, and nothing else Consistency you apply the same standard of judgment to each proposal 16

Individual reading The evaluators first carry out individual readings (remotely) The evaluators: Evaluate the proposal individually without discussing with the other evaluators Check whether the proposal is in scope Complete an Individual Assessment Report (IAR) form giving scores and comments on all criteria Sign and date the form IARs should be checked and, if necessary, returned with a request to further justify the score given Scores should be in line with comments 18
Proposals that are only partly in scope There is no single Relevance criterion in FP7: The S/T quality of a proposal is evaluated to the extent that the content is relevant to the topics addressed by the call Eg. If a proposal is only marginally relevant, or if only one work package is relevant, you must downgrade your score no matter how excellent the science! Relevance to the objectives of the call is considered under Impact In relation to the sub-criterion contribution to expected impacts listed in the work programme 19
Excess pages Proposal page limits: applicants must ensure that proposals conform to the page limits and layout given in the Guide of Applicants, and in the proposal part B template available through the EPSS. The Commission will instruct the experts to disregard any pages exceeding these limits SUMMARY OF MANDATORY PAGE LIMITS (conforming to font and margin sizes mentioned in Annex 4 to the Guide of Applicants). Recomendaciones - Leer y entender la documentación necesaria: la idea tiene que encajar - Elegir el esquema de financiación adecuado y permitido en la convocatoria - Asegurarse de cumplir todos los requisitos de elegibilidad!! - Describir clara y detalladamente en el Plan de Trabajo cómo las actividades presentadas nos llevarán a alcanzar los objetivos planteados en el proyecto - Cuidar el lenguaje: inglés correcto, incluir o hacer referencia a palabras clave del Programa de Trabajo, Convocatoria, otros documentos de referencia, etc. JORNADA HORIZONTE 2020
Recomendaciones - Presentar la información claramente: Formato inteligible (lenguaje claro, contenidos bien estructurados, índice, figuras, tablas, etc.) -Utilizar diagramas: Gantt chart Diagrama Flujo (workflow) Diagrama Dependencias (red PERT) -Propuesta completa pero concisa: ajustarse a lo que piden ( ir al grano ) - El evaluador evalúa lo que lee, no asumir otra cosa - REPASO: No dejar contradicciones o incoherencias evidentes - Solicitar a terceras personas que evalúen la propuesta previamente JORNADA HORIZONTE 2020
