1 Unidad 3 Los verbos irregulares del pretérito (Irregular Preterite Verbs) The verbs estar, poder, poner, saber, and tener are irregular in the preterite tense. To form the preterite of these verbs, you must change their stems and add irregular preterite endings. Each of these verbs has a unique stemgroup in the preterite, but they all take the same endings. There are 4 categories of these irregulars in the preterite: I group Hacer* Venir Querer U Group UV Group J Group Poder* Poner* Saber* Tener* Estar* Andar Decir* Traer Conducir All these irregular verbs take the same set of endings.
