3 Robert R. Rojas Elementary Campus Policy and Procedures At Robert R. Rojas Elementary our first priority is the safety of all our students. We strongly believe that there is a direct correlation between the home and school in the success of our students. We ask that all parents/guardians maintain a close relationship with our school when providing information about your child to include updating parent/guardian contact information, medical information, court orders and emergency contacts. Should any information change at any time, please contact the front office at to keep us informed of any changes. In our continuing effort to provide a safe and secure environment for the students at Robert R. Elementary additional measures will be taken. All visitors, parents, and volunteers will be required to sign in the front office and show a state issued picture ID. This policy applies to signing your child out early and having lunch with your child/children. Students will not be released to anyone without a state issued picture ID and will only be released to those designated on our Authorization for Student Pick Up Form. The Pre-K and Kinder students will be escorted to the assigned areas by selected teacher. Robert R. Rojas Elementary will continue to be a closed campus, students may be dropped off in the front area of the school. Every grade has a designated area for pick up in the morning and at dismissal. Your child may enter though the main entrance and school personnel will monitor that your child gets to their area safe. Prek, Kinder and 1st grade will remain inside the building at all times. 2nd 5th grade students will line up at their designated area. During inclement weather all students will line up in the cafeteria. All children are monitored and escorted by our school personnel. Payments to your child s cafeteria account may be made in the front office. Please make arrangements to have your children picked up on time after school. Our school office hours are from 7:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. 4 Pólizas y Procedimientos de la Escuela Primaria de Robert R. Rojas En Rojas nuestra primera prioridad es la seguridad de todos nuestros estudiantes. Esta misma póliza existe en cuando el clima no coopera con nosotros. Su hijo/a será monitoreada por el personal de la escuela y esperaran en la cafetería. El desayuno en los salones continuara para todos los estudiantes. Por favor haga arreglos para recoger a su niño/a a tiempo después de escuela. 5 Robert R. Rojas Elementary Uniform Policy We started this school year on a very positive and smooth note. A Bright Beginning for an even brighter year. We thank you for your part in this. Parents are essential and integral members of our Dream Team. As we strive to achieve the status of an Exemplary campus we must continue to work towards being our best in all areas. To be our best, we must present ourselves at our best. The way we dress and carry ourselves is important. We would like to take this opportunity to clearly explain our uniform policy. EFFECTIVE July 28 th, 2014: -Uniform bottoms for boys - Jeans /khaki/ tan or navy uniform style pants or shorts -Uniform for girls Jeans/khaki/ tan or navy uniform style pants, shorts, skorts, or jumpers in the appropriate length for school -Uniform tops - white, royal blue or navy blue polo shirts. For safety reasons, please ensure at least one of the polo s has a school logo on it to wear on school field trips. All shirts must be tucked in. -Friday Option Rojas or College T-shirt with uniform bottoms -Footwear- We encourage our students to wear any type of closed tennis shoe to school. No sandals are allowed. -Face/Hair- No make-up may be worn. Hats/caps may be worn outside the building during lunch/ recess. No unusual hair color (red, orange, green, blue, etc ) -Winter Wear (all students) - white or other turtlenecks may be worn under the uniform top, appropriately fitting sweatshirt/sweater may be worn over uniform short sleeve shirt. -Jackets / Sweatshirts with Hood (Cap) must be unzipped or remove them during school hours. Consequences for violating uniform policy will be as follows: 1 st offense parent will be called by the teacher to bring in a change of clothes. If a parent cannot be reached, the child will be fitted with correct clothing from the uniform donation bank. 2 nd offense- parent will be called by an administrator, use of the uniform bank if necessary, and a Dress Code violation will be used. Por razones de seguridad, por favor asegúrese de que al menos una de las camisetas tenga el logo de la escuela para usarla en los paseos escolares. Las consecuencias por violar las políticas del uniforme serán las siguientes: -1ra. Ofensa- los padres serán llamados por el maestro para traer el uniforme del estudiante. Si el padre no puede ser contactado, el estudiante será vestido con ropa apropiada al uniforme con la ropa que ha sido donada. -2da. Ofensa- los padres serán llamados por un administrador, el uso del banco de - uniforme si es necesario, y una violación de Código de vestimenta será usada Esperamos que esto haya clarificado las dudas y preguntas de nuestros Team Members. 7 Instruction begins promptly 7:45 a.m. One of the most valuable life skills a student can learn comes in taking the responsibility for arriving at school every day on time. This skill will transfer as a valuable asset for your child s future. The morning is one of the most important times of your child s day. We ask for your support in helping your child (ren) to be successful. You have 48 hours to excuse an absence. The following are procedures that will be in effect for the school year. CONSEQUENCES FOR UNEXCUSED: 1 st - 3 rd absences - Verbal warning and reminder note from classroom teacher. 4 th absences Warning Notice Letter sent to parent/guardian outlining absences policy must be signed and returned. 5 th absences Administrators will set up parent conference to resolve absences issue. Since daily attendance is mandated by law, (Texas School Compulsory attendance Law Section , , and ), we feel confident in knowing you will support our efforts in helping your child achieve his/her very best in school. Please be advised that any child with one (1) or more absences will NOT be eligible for perfect attendance rewards or awards including prize drawings, classroom incentives and end of year trophies. Students that are tardy after 8:00 a.m. will not be served breakfast. CONSEQUENCES FOR TARDINESS: 1 st - 2 nd tardy - Verbal warning and reminder note from classroom teacher. 3 rd tardy -Teacher calls parents to resolve issue. 4 th tardy Tardy Notice Letter sent to parent/guardian outlining tardy policy, must be signed and returned. 5 th tardy - Teacher/Parent face to face conference. 6 th tardy Teacher will notify administration, administrators will set up parent conference to resolve tardiness issue. Second Tardy Notice Letter will be issued. Since daily attendance is mandated by law, (Texas School Compulsory attendance Law Section , and ), we feel confident in knowing you will support our efforts in helping your child achieve his/her very best in school.
