3 Qué es el Programa Dual de Dos Senderos? What is a Two-Way Dual Language Program? El programa de dos senderos es un programa donde los estudiantes aprenden a hablar, a leer, y a escribir en español y en inglés. Dual language two-way enrichment is a program where students learn to speak, read, and write in Spanish and in English.

6 Plan de Estudios Curriculum El plan de estudios está alineado con los estándares estatales de Texas en el arte de lenguaje, matemáticas ciencias, y estudios sociales. All the curriculum taught is aligned with the Texas State Standards in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

7 Cómo se lleva a cabo? How is it done? Clases son impartidas en español por un maestro certificado en educación bilingüe, y en inglés por un maestro certificado en ESL. Students will be taught by both a Bilingual Certified teacher in Spanish, and by an ESL certified teacher in English.

Students who are English speaking will be accepted in the Dual

8 Para Quién? Who Can Participate? Todos los estudiantes que empiezan en el programa bilingüe continuarán en el programa de dos senderos. Empezando con kínder hasta quinto grado. Students who are English speaking will be accepted in the Dual Program in kindergarten. Older students who apply for the program will be considered based on space available and experience in other dual programs.

İEs necesario tener el apoyo de los padres! It s going to be challenging! Learning a language takes time! Students may experience a level of frustration! Parent support is necessary!

10 Se Debe Considerar Que Things to Consider Se necesita tener una mentalidad que el progreso del estudiante es más importante que la calificación. Growth mindset needed: the grade is not the most important thing, but rather the progress. Ayuda tener la habilidad de enfrentar situaciones estresantes. Ability to handle stressful situations is helpful.

11 Se Debe Considerar Que Things to Consider El maestro/a permanecerá en el idioma indicado. Aunque todos los estudiantes que empiezan Kindergarten pueden aplicar para el programa, no siempre es la mejor opción para estudiantes con dificultades con el habla. Teacher will remain in the target language. Although all students entering kindergarten can apply for the program, it is not always the best choice for students who struggle with speaking.

12 Modelo de Lenguaje Dual de GCISD GCISD Dual Language Model Los estudiantes reciben matemáticas y ciencias en Inglés. Students receive math and science in English Los estudiantes reciben estudios sociales en Español. Los estudiantes reciben artes del lenguaje en Español el 50% del tiempo (K-1 es basado en la preparación de los estudiantes). Students receive social studies in Spanish Students receive language arts in Spanish 50% of the time (K-1 based on readiness)

14 Escuelas: Campuses: Escuela Secundaria Grapevine Middle: Los estudiantes de Lenguaje Dual en 6o grado tomarán Español II- PreAP. Grapevine Middle School: 6th grade dual language students will take Spanish II Pre-AP

Solicitudes serán aceptadas empezando el día 13 de febrero.

15 Proceso de Inscripción Application Process Solicitudes para el programa de kindergarten se tienen que entregar antes del día 3 de marzo. Solicitudes serán aceptadas empezando el día 13 de febrero. Applications for the Kindergarten program are due no later than March 3. Applications will be accepted online beginning on February 13.

16 Proceso de Inscripción Application Process Si el número de formularios de inscripción recibidos excede el número de espacios que hay disponible, se llevará a cabo una lotería el día viernes 6 de marzo del 2015 a las 10:00 am. If there are more applications received than space is available, a lottery will be held on March 6, 2015 at 10:00 am.

17 Proceso de Inscripción Application Process Habrá una lista de espera cuando se llenen las clases. Las solicitudes se pondrán en la lista de espera en el orden en que fueron seleccionadas de la lotería y para los programas deseados. Wait lists will be formed when all available spots are filled. Applications will be wait listed in order as they are selected from the lottery, and for the programs desired.
