Our Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Ministry leaders and members will be meeting for the final session of Missionary Disciples: Witnesses of God s Love this Month. They have been reflecting on their experience of how God has encountered them on their journey and how they are called to encounter others in the world with the love, hope and mercy of Jesus. They have been taking the first step to get to know those who find themselves in loneliness, perhaps forgotten, and in need. At the end of this month they will gather again for a Cathedral Parish Day where we will reflect on the wisdom gained through the grace of God and discuss how the church as a whole in the US can better respond to the needs of our communities and also discuss how specifically we can better serve our community in the Downtown Los Angeles area. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is proud to present an Organ Concert featuring MONICA CZAUSZ MONDAY, OCTOBER 16, :00 PM A true rising star among young classical musicians, Monica Czausz has quickly made a name for herself as one of the finest young American organists on the scene today. She was recognized as one of the top 20 organists under 30 in the May 2016 issue of The Diapason for her superior accomplishments, leadership, creativity, and innovative thinking. She has received first prize in numerous competitions, including the 2015 American Guild of Organists Regional Competition for Young Organists, 2015 Schweitzer Competition in the Young Professionals Division, the 2013 William C. Hall Competition, the 2012 L. Cameron Johnson Competition, and the 2011 Oklahoma City University Competition. Monica is currently a student of Alan Morrison at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she is pursuing an Artist Diploma in Organ Performance. Please join us at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels as we commemorate our loved ones who have died. We will celebrate Evening Prayer, followed by a special performance of the John Rutter Requiem performed by the Cathedral Choir, Samuel Soria, organist and Gordon LaCross, conductor. Father Juan Ochoa, Associate Pastor of the Cathedral, will preside at Evening Prayer and candles will be lit for those have died in the last year. At the close of the concert, the Choir will process to the Mausoleum, followed by all who wish to visit their friends and family interred there. This special event is free and open to the public.
