1 THE OXFORD SCHOOL TERM TEST WEEK TERM III th- Grade- Commerce (12C) Term Tests for 12th grade will take place from THURSDAY 26 TH NOVEMBER to TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER. The schedule for these Tests is as follows: Les informamos que los exámenes trimestrales de 120 se llevarán a cabo del JUEVES 26 DE NOVIEMBRE AL MARTES 1 DE DECIEMBRE. El horario para los exámenes de 12o es el siguiente TIME 7:15 7:45 a.m. THURSDAY 26 FRIDAY 27 MONDAY 30 TUESDAY 1 7:45 9:45 ENGLISH LITERATURE MATHS ENGLISH LANGUAGE SPANISH 9:45 10:00 RECESS RECESS RECESS RECESS 10:00 11:30 ACCOUNTING BUSINESS STUDIES ECONOMICS (10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.) END OF YEAR CELEBRATION During this test period, classes will begin as usual at 7:30 a.m. and will end at 11:30 a.m. Students MUST GO HOME immediately after each day s exams have ended. Students are not permitted to remain on any school premises once they have completed their exams. ENGLISH LANGUAGE: 12 th GRADE English All Groups 1, 2, 3 Term III Since the Oxford School implements Cambridge Examinations our third term exam will be based upon AS Level of Passage for Comment format. It is vital for 12th grade English Language students to gain experience in this formal assessment. Section 1 of your test will be about commenting: Part A: Comment on the ways in which language and style are used.. [15] Below are points that will assist you in preparation: Read the question carefully, comment only on the aspects required in the question. Remember to identify distinguishing features of the texts, relate them to the function and context of the writing, and organize information in their answers Always comment on aspects such as vocabulary, figurative language (e.g. use of metaphor and simile), word ordering and sentence structure, formality/informality of tone, and the communication of attitudes, bias or prejudice, structure Write for a specific purpose and/or audience using appropriate vocabulary, tone, and style. Part B. Write a section (between words) of this article. Base your answer closely on the features of the writing in the original extract. [10] Section 2 of your exam is Imaginative Writing(narrative/descriptive) You should write between 600 and 900 words. Choose 1 of the following.[25] Questions require a narrative or descriptive piece of continuous writing of words (or two shorter linked pieces of words). Candidates are required to show that they can write imaginatively, using language to create deliberate effects, e.g. in conveying a mood or describing a character. Candidates are advised to spend approximately 15 minutes reading the whole paper before they begin writing. Dictionaries may not be used. 2
