It seems that every day the news media have yet more bad news to tell: wars, disease, terrorism, drought, social unrest, and more. Some people have stopped using clock radios to wake up in the morning, preferring a jarring buzzer to the even more jarring morning news. What more do we need before we realize that we are finite creatures, and while there is much we can do to make our world better, ultimately there is a lot that is simply not within our grasp? To this our loving God says, Be strong, fear not! We must do what we can to make our world a better and safer place, but we must also realize our limits and that our ultimate safety is in the hands of God. We can be comforted by the realization that God loves us beyond measure, and will give us every help in our efforts to make our world a loving and safe place for everyone. Prayer for Labor Day On this weekend, when we rest from our usual labors, loving Father, we pray for all who shoulder the tasks of human labor in the marketplace, in factories and offices, in the professions, and in family living. We thank you, Lord, for the gift and opportunity of work; may our efforts always be pure of heart, for the good of others and the glory of your name. We lift up to you all who long for just employment and those who work to defend the rights and needs of workers everywhere. May those of us who are now retired always remember that we still make a valuable contribution to our Church and our world by our prayers and deeds of charity. May our working and our resting all give praise to you until the day we share together in eternal rest with all our departed in your Kingdom as you live and reign Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. No hay misa a las 5:30pm Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time September 6, 2015 NO TEMAN En estos tiempos, hay muchas razones para temer, con tan sólo mirar a nuestro alrededor. Tal parece que cada día los medios de comunicación tienen más malas noticias que anunciar: guerras, enfermedades, terrorismo, sequía, disturbios sociales, y mucho más. Algunas personas han dejado de usar los radios despertadores prefiriendo ser despertados por la sacudida de la alarma chillona y no de las malas noticias matutinas. Qué más necesitamos para darnos cuenta de que somos criaturas limitadas, y aunque hay mucho que podemos hacer para mejorar nuestro mundo, en última instancia hay mucho que simplemente no está a nuestro alcance? Para esto, nuestro amoroso Dios nos dice: Ánimo! No teman. Debemos hacer todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance para hacer de nuestro mundo un lugar mejor y más seguro, pero también debemos reconocer nuestros límites y que nuestra seguridad absoluta está en manos de Dios. Oración por el Día del Trabajo En este fin de semana, cuando descansamos de nuestras labores habituales, amoroso Padre, oramos por todos los que comparten la tarea de la mano de obra humana en el mercado, en las fábricas y oficinas, en las profesiones y en la vida familiar. Te damos gracias, Señor, por el don y la oportunidad de trabajo; puedan nuestros esfuerzos siempre ser puros de corazón, por el bien de los demás y la gloria de tu nombre. Levantamos a ti todos los que anhelan simplemente el empleo y los que trabajan para defender los derechos y necesidades de los trabajadores. Que aquellos de nosotros que ahora están jubilados siempre recuerden que todavía hacemos una contribución valiosa a nuestra Iglesia y nuestro mundo por nuestras oraciones y obras de caridad. Que nuestro trabajo y nuestro descanso todo te alaben hasta el día que compartimos juntos en el descanso eterno en tu Reino donde vives y reinas Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo, un solo Dios, por los siglos de los siglos. ENGLISH RETREAT On Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 8:30 am to 12 noon at St. Anthony's Ranch we will have an English retreat for all catechists and those involved in ministries. The theme will be the Eucharist as seen by the disciples of Emmaus. On Sunday, September 20th we will celebrate catechetical Sunday with the commissioning of all catechists at 11:00 am mass.
