We have a responsibility to remember and pray for all of our beloved dead. As Christians, we know that death is not the end only a beginning into a life of eternity. The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls Day) is celebrated on Saturday, November 2. We would like you to attend mass at 9 a.m. (English) or 11 a.m. (Spanish). We will be announcing the name of your loved one who was buried form our church this year. The priests of the parish are privileged to offer masses on November 2 for your loved one and hope you are able to join us. Please call our parish office at your convenience to let us know if you can make it. If the priests of the parish can be of any assistance to you- please do not hesitate to contact us. Tenemos la responsabilidad de acordar y orar por nuestros seres queridos difuntos. Como cristianos, sabemos que la muerte no es el fin solo el comienzo de la vida eterna. 3 Dear Parishioners, Last Thanksgiving we offered a fully cooked Thanksgiving meal in the convent for parishioners who needed food or didn t want to eat alone. This year we will try something different by offering food to all of our parishioners who need some extra assistance for their Thanksgiving meal. The food will be picked up a week before Thanksgiving and you will prepare it yourselves at home. We hope to offer two or three bags of groceries (depending on the amount of people in your family) as well as a Turkey or chicken (your choice) for you to cook on Thanksgiving Day. To make this as easy as possible I m offering you 3 ways in letting me know you will need assistance. Choose any of these 3 November 11 IS THE LAST day we can accept names. You must be a parishioner of St Bart s Parish to receive this assistance. 1. Call me at the parish office If I m not available leave your name and number and I will call you right back. 2. stbartselmhurst@gmail.com Fr Rick Queridos Parroquianos, El año pasado les ofrecimos una cena completa en el Convento para el Día de Acción de Gracias para los parroquianos quienes no tenían comida o no querían comer solo. Este año vamos a tratar algo diferente ofreciendo alimentos a todos nuestros parroquianos quienes necesitan alguna asistencia para su cena de Acción de Gracias. Los alimentos se pueden recoger una semana antes del Día de Acción de Gracias y los pueden preparar en sus casas. Esperamos poder ofrecer dos o tres bolsas de provisiones (dependiendo en la cantidad de personas en su familia) además de un pavo o pollo (su opción) para cocinar el Día de Acción de Gracias. Para hacerlo la mas fácil posible les ofrezco 3 maneras para que se comuniquen con migo y avisarme que necesitan asistencia. Escoja cualquiera de estas 3 aceptaremos los nombres HASTA el día 11 de Noviembre. 4 TURN YOUR CLOCK BACK Next Saturday night before going to sleep, don t forget to move your clock one hour back! We all gain an extra hour sleep to help us in these upcoming weeks of Winter! THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE The Social Ministry group is organizing a food drive to assist families in need this Thanksgiving. Food will be collected after the 8:30a.m; 10 and 11:30a.m. mass on Sunday, November 17. WHAT CAN YOU BRING? Any canned food Rice or Pasta Sauces or Soups in cans or jars Cereals Please note this is the only date and time we will be acceptingfood. ALL SAINTS DAY: We will offer two masses on All Saints Day Thurs October 31 at 7:30 p.m. (Spanish) and Friday, November 1 at 9 a.m. in English. All masses will take place in the church. ALL SOULS DAY: We will offer two masses on Saturday, Nov 2 as we remember all of our beloved dead : 9 a.m. (English) and 11 a.m. (Spanish) During these masses we will especially remember all of our parishioners who have been buried from the parish this year. Special ALL SOULS DAY envelopes are now available at the entrance of the churches. Write the names of your beloved deceased and place it in any of the Sunday collection baskets. The envelopes will be placed on our altars during the month of November. MAT FLOW GROUP The Mat Flow Group now takes places every Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Heafey Hall (room under the chapel church). Everyone is invited to attend if you don t have a mat we will provide one for you. We pray; we do yoga exercises and we have lots of fun. Open to all men and women of the parish 18 and over. PARTY: Almost 100 people attended the party last week. Authentic German food; beers; delicious desserts and old-time music and dancing all for $2! How could you beat it?? Watch the bulletin for our next parish party sponsored by the Social Ministry Group. GUADALUPE FUNDRAISER The Guadalupe committee will host a food and dessert fundraiser on Sunday, October 27 after the 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. masses in the school gym. All monies will be used to help cover the costs on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe December 12. It will also be our welcome back home party for Fr Lucas. LINE DANCING Last Sunday our Line Dancing Group celebrated their second anniversary! It was another wonderful parish celebration. The committee presented Fr Rick with a gift of $10,000! We are grateful for their generous donation and will soon announce a special project that this donation will fund. Beside this generous donation, the Line Dancing raises more than $10,000 each year for the needs of our parish! Everyone is cordially welcome to participate in this group which meets every Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the school gym Judge St. MASS IN BENGALI Over 100 people attended this month s first mass in Bengali. We are off to a great start. The next mass in Bengali will take place on Sunday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel. Confessions will be heard from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the chapel. Fr Nirmal Costa our new parochial vicar will celebrate the mass. Following the mass there will be refreshments in Heafey Hall. The Bangladeshi and Indian community invite all those who speak Bengali to attend this mass. Fr Nirmal offers the 9 a.m. mass in English every Tuesday in the chapel and is available in the parish office to speak to anyone during the day. SPECIAL TRIP THIS CHRISTMAS There are less than 15 tickets left! Please come and join us for our parish Christmas outing on Thursday December 19. We will leave at 9 a.m. by luxury bus to Madison Square Garden where we will see the performance of The Christmas Story at 11 a.m. Following the show we will have a delicious Italian lunch in Bucca s NYC. After lunch we will have some leisure time (weather permitting) to walk a bit in the city and finish our day visiting the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. Total cost for the trip is $90. Todos nos ganamos una hora más para dormir para ayudarnos durante el invierno! CAMPAÑA DE COMIDA EN ACCION DE GRACIAS: El Grupo de Ministerios Sociales está organizando una campaña para asistir a las familias necesitadas para el Día de Acción de Gracias. Los alimentos serán colectados después de las misas de 8:30 a.m.; 10 y 11:30 a.m. el domingo 17 de Noviembre. Que pueden traer? Cualquier comida enlatada Arroz o pasta Salsas o sopas en latas o taros Cereales Favor de notar estas serán las únicas horas y tiempo designado para aceptar los alimentos. DIA DE TODOS LOS SANTOS Ofreceremos dos misas el Día de Todos los Santos jueves 31 de Octubre a las 7:30 PM (español) y viernes, 1 de Noviembre a las 9:00 AM en ingles. Todas las misas tendrán lugar en la Iglesia Principal. DIA DE TODOS LOS FIELES DIFUNTOS Ofreceremos dos misas el sábado, 2 de Noviembre en conmemoración de todos nuestros seres queridos fieles difuntos: 9:00 AM (ingles) y 11:00 AM (español). Durante estas misas vamos acordar especialmente todos nuestros parroquianos quienes fueron sepulcritos de la parroquia este ano. Sobres especiales de TODOS LOS FIELES DIFUNTOS están disponibles en las puertas de las Iglesias. Escriba los nombres de sus seres queridos difuntos y échelo en la canasta de la colecta el domingo. Los sobres estarán en los altares de las Iglesias durante el mes de Noviembre. RECAUDACION DE FONDOS PARA GUADALUPE: El Comité Guadalupano será el anfitrión de comida y postres para recaudar fondos el domingo, 27 de Octubre después de las misas de 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. y 1:00 p.m. en el gimnasio de la escuela. Todos los fondos serán usados para cubrir los gastos de la Fiesta de Guadalupe el 12 de Diciembre. También será nuestra fiesta de regreso a casa para el Padre Lucas. GRUPO MAT FLOW: El Grupo Mat Flow ahora tiene lugar en Heafey Hall (sótano de la Capilla) todos los lunes comenzando a las 7:30 p.m. Todos están invitados a participar si no tiene un tapetito le podemos proveer uno. Nosotros oramos, hacemos ejercicios de Yoga y gozamos mucho. Hombres y mujeres de la parroquia mayores de 18 años de edad pueden unirse a nosotros. BAILANDO EN LINEA El domingo pasado nuestro Grupo de Baile en Línea celebro su Segundo aniversario! Fue otra celebración maravillosa. El comité le presento al Padre Rick un regalo de $10,000! Estamos agradecido por su donación generosa y pronto anunciaremos un proyecto especial que se pagara con estos fondos. Además de esta donación generosa, Bailando en Línea recauda más de $10,000 cada año para las necesidades de nuestra parroquia! Después del almuerzo tendremos tiempo (permitiendo el tiempo) para caminar por la ciudad, terminaremos con una visita al Albor de Navidad en Rockefeller Center. El costo total del viaje es $90.
