4 Pastor Msgr. John E. Anderson, P.A. (575) He is a native of El Paso and was ordained a priest for the El Paso Diocese in He served as an associate pastor at St. Pius X Parish in El Paso and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Las Cruces. He obtained his MA degree in counseling from NMSU in 1974 and served as chaplain of the St. Albert the Great Newman Center until When the Diocese of Las Cruces was established in 1982, Bishop Ramirez asked him to serve as his Vicar General and in 1984 asked him to serve as pastor of Holy Cross Parish. He enjoys serving you and looks forward to seeing our dream Pope John Paul II Family Life Center completed. Associate Pastor Fr. Alejandro Reyes fatheralejandro@holycrosslascruces.org ext 105 Fr. Alejandro Reyes Cárdenas; a newly ordained priest for the Diocese of Las Cruces, born in Córdoba Veracruz México. He received elementary formation, high school and college in Veracruz; and finished his degree in Philosophy at the Archdiocesan seminary Rafael Guizar y Valencia associated with the Pontifical University of Mexico. It was during this time he had an invitation to study for the Diocese of Las Cruces, New Mexico. In August of 2009 he began his Theological studies at Saint Mary s Seminary in Houston and completed his formation and finished his Master in Divinity from the University of Saint Thomas in the summer Before a capacity crowd of friends, family and faithful from around the diocese Alejandro Reyes was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Las Cruces on June 2, Deacon Steve Apodaca deaconsteve@holycrosslascruces.org American Heritage Girls: A Christ-centered scouting program for 5-18 year old girls. The mission is to build women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. They provide classes and gather documentation for sacramental preparation for Spanish-speaking parishioners. They conduct and plan fundraisers to assist the Hispanic Community conventions and retreats. They schedule Masses and other events and activities for Feast Days at Holy Cross Parish. Deacon Paul Lederman deaconpaul@holycrosslascruces.org (575) As Pastoral Associate, he assists Monsignor in liturgical events, visiting homebound and nursing home residents, presiding at funeral vigils, committals, presider services, and home and business blessings. Pastoral Associate of Administration Wade Cornelius wade@holycrosslascruces.org ext 106 As the pastoral associate of administration, Wade assists Monsignor in overseeing Holy Cross operations. He is also tasked with structuring the church s renewed efforts to proclaim the good news through evangelization. 19 3

6 Pastoral Associate/Coordinator of Ministries Elizabeth Behnke ext 107 She assists in the spiritual care of those within the parish and community in the name of the Pastor. She coordinates scheduling of liturgical ministers. She meets with parish staff as needed for of on-going projects and review of special projects. She also, assists and aids where needed in all existing ministries and in the creation of new ones. Ushers/Greeters: Meet and greet people arriving for Mass, assist people in finding seating, take up collection(s) and distribute bulletins after Mass. As such, she develops, implements, and directs sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Baptism (RCIA) for students 7 17 years and their parents, ongoing faith formation for Pre-K through 8 th Grade students and parents, training for catechists and aides. (She chairs the parish Faith Formation Council that oversees parish-wide faith formation programs.). Director of H.S. Faith Formation Coordinator Music Ministry Co-Founder of QUEST Retreat Team & Seven Times Over Praise Band Johnny Aldas johnny@holycrosslascruces.org (575) His is responsible for the development and implementation of the Holy Cross Catholic High School Faith Formation Program (9 th -12 th grade) which incorporates preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation that also includes service to the community, retreats, social activities, and Diocesan events and Mass. As Music Coordinator, he fosters a more universal music selection for each Mass community. As the coordinator of the QUEST Team, he also facilitates retreats and special event throughout the diocese. 4 BeFrienders: A lay pastoral care program of specially trained parishioners who respond to the needs of others by visiting with them, listening with care and providing emotional and spiritual friendship. 7 Angel Voices Youth Choir: A choir consisting of boys and girls from third grade to high school. The choir sings once a month at the 4:30 p.m. Mass. Lastly, he is responsible for coordinating a Young Adult summer lecture series, Theology on Tap (ages 21-35). Administrative Assistant Carol Mundy carol@holycrosslascruces.org ext 0 She performs secretarial and clerical duties in support of Holy Cross Church. She compiles information for Baptism, Wedding, Funeral and RCIA. She keeps Sacramental record books and notifications of Sacraments. She is also a certified Notary Public. Minister of Administrator Support Karen Cornelius karen@holycrosslascruces.org ext 108 She provides clerical support to all levels of ministry to include maintaining parish records, policies and procedures. She collects and provides technical information to the pastor, parish work groups, subcontractors and vendors. 16 5

8 Parish Maintenance Gabe Montalvo (575) Special Parish Events: Assists with cooking, baking, set-up and clean up at events held throughout the year, Eventos Sociales y Especiales: Ayudar cocinando y preparando comida, así como el arreglo y la limpieza del lugar en donde se llevan a cabo los eventos que se organizan durante el año. Parish Housekeeping Linda Aldas linda@holycrosslascruces.org She maintains the Church, Church offices, and the Rectory, ensuring it is properly set and ready for the parish community, as well as assist the priests in maintaining their residence. She also assists in the event planning and preparation of all Church sponsored events. She regularly attends and implements input as part of the Pastoral Staff and Office Staff. Growing Stewards: Stewardship is a way of life, an attitude of the mind and heart that is expressed in action. Christian Stewards are women and men who acknowledge God as the owner and giver of all things. Corresponsables: Es un estilo de vida, una actitud de la mente y el corazón que se expresa en la acción. Team (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults): Instructs adults who are interested in the Roman Catholic faith who have never been baptized or baptized in other faiths or Catholic adults who have not been fully initiated.
