Recall that Samaritans believed that the place to worship God was on Mt. Gerizim, and because Jesus and his disciples were on the way to Jerusalem, the Samaritans were not interested in aiding his mission. Almost like five-year-olds at the candy display in the grocery checkout line, James and John were ready to call down fire from heaven to wipe out the Samaritans. Jesus did not hesitate to rebuke them for their outburst. On the other hand, even Jesus seemed to express his own sense of disappointment when he says in the Gospel to someone who wants to follow him, "The Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head" (Lk 9:58). How we deal with disappointment is a sign of maturity. Jesus makes the point in the Gospel that we have to move forward. Letting go of regrets and looking to the future is wholesome everyday advice. But putting those ideas into the realm of faith means that we confess our sins and seek absolution (the letting go) and direct our lives to God's kingdom. 5 PAGE 4 FAMILY SUPPORT COORDINATION 13º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario AYUDA PARA LAS FAMILIAS Is a service provided by seven participating non-profit organizations to help families cope with life changes. The service will help you to find the community resources and support you need. Families looking for assistance with multiple issues often have a difficult time finfing resources. Family Support Coordination can help make sure every member of your family has access to quality care, education and support. Families with at least one child under age of 6, who has not started kindergarten, families that need assistance with several issues, families living in Central Phoenix. For further information call to Family Support Coordination at BAPTISM INFORMATION Parents must come to the Parish office to register. Requirements: Child must be younger than 7 years old. If older he/she needs to be registered in the Religious Education Program. Bring the original Birth Certificate of the child Godparents Confirmation certificate (if single) or Church Marriage Certificate if they are married Donation is $60.00 (Non-refundable). The dates of the classes are given at time of registration. If baptism class has been taken, please bring proof of the class date and attendance. The next baptism date is Saturday, July 27th at 10:00am (Spanish).
