All teens are required to wear an appropriate costume. We ask that your teen does not wear anything that promotes the occult, death or violence. We have strongly encouraged your teen to be creative in their costume choice and we have been brainstorming about what that might look like, for example a person dressed as bubble gum, Saint, coach, athlete, fireman, priest or princess. The dance will be in the Youth House from 6:00 to 8:30pm. The fee per person for the dance is a donation of a new toy item for our SVDP Christmas Toy Drive. Your teen may invite a friend to attend, please make sure they are in 7th or 8th grade, years of age and wearing an appropriate costume and bring a new toy as well. Please note that teens may not come early on this night. Thank you! Open House Brophy College Preparatory is hosting its annual Open House on Sunday, November 8 from 12:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. for prospective students and families. VINCENT DE PAUL In today s Gospel, Jesus summoned the Twelve and said to them,...whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. If we wish to follow Jesus, we must also serve the least among us, the poor, the homeless, and those living on the edges of society. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, along with your generous donations, gives food boxes to needy families who come to our Pantry for help. The Society also takes food to those who are disabled and cannot come to the Pantry for food; many times giving them utility and rental assistance in order to help them keep their homes. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is so grateful to Boy Scout Troop 148 for their food drive named, Scouting for Food. In response to the call of Pope Francis to serve the poor, they passed out empty grocery bags in neighborhoods and asked the community to fill the bags with food for the poor. They collected about 140 bags filled with great food to restock our Pantry shelves for the Food Boxes given to hungry families each night of the week. These wonderful young men along with their leaders and parents are a shining example of the goodness and kindness of our young people. May the Lord bless all of you for your love of God s poor! 5 MEMORIAL TO THE UNBORN DEDICATION CEREMONY The Knights of Columbus and the Guadalupanas cordially invite you to the dedication of the new Memorial to the Unborn on October 28, The dedication will begin with Mass at 6:30 p.m., followed by the unveiling ceremony and a light reception in the Cathedral courtyard. Since abortion was legalized in the United States 42 years ago with the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, there have been approximately 57 million abortions in U.S. This memorial is dedicated to all the unborn children who tragically lost their lives. Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus and the Guadalupanas for their efforts to raise funds for this special memorial and to all the donors who so generously supported the project. Please join us for this special event. Please come out and join the prayerful efforts to end abortion. 10 SAN VICENTE DE PAUL En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús llamó a los Doce y les dijo: el que quiera ser grande entre ustedes que sea su servidor, y el que quiera ser el primero, que sea el esclavo de todos, así como el Hijo del Hombre, que no ha venido a que lo sirvan, sino a servir y a dar su vida por la redención de todos. Si queremos seguir a Jesús, también debemos servir a quienes tienen menos entre nosotros, a los pobres, a los que no tienen hogar, y a los que viven en los márgenes de la sociedad. La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul, junto con sus generosos donativos, entrega cajas de alimentos a las familias necesitadas quienes acuden a nuestra despensa en busca de ayuda. La Sociedad también lleva alimentos a los que están discapacitados y que no pueden venir a la despensa por alimentos; y muchas veces les ayudamos con asistencia de servicios públicos y de alquiler con el propósito de ayudarles a mantener a sus hogares. La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl le agradece a los Boy Scouts Tropa 148 por su campaña de alimentos llamado Scouting for Food (Explorando por Alimentos). En respuesta a la llamada del Papa Francisco de servir a los pobres, ellos repartieron bolsas vacías en los vecindarios y pidieron a la comunidad que llenaran las bolsas con comida para los pobres. Ellos juntaron cerca de 140 bolsas llenas de comida para reponer nuestros estantes de la despensa, para las cajas de alimentos que damos a las familias cada noche entre semana. Estos maravillosos jóvenes junto con sus líderes y sus padres son un brillante ejemplo de la bondad de nuestros jóvenes. Que el Señor bendiga a todos ustedes por su amor hacia los pobres de Dios! CELEBRACIÓN DEL ROSARIO EN ARIZONA Unase al aniversario 40 de la Celebración del Rosario en Arizona. Es en domingo!el 25 de Octubre del 2015, de 2:00 a 4:15 de la tarde en el Centro de Convenciones de Phoenix, salones F y G, en la esquina noreste de las calles Tercera y Jefferson. El obispo Thomas Olmsted presidirá el evento acompañado por el obispo auxiliar Eduardo Nevarez. El padre Dennis Billy, C.Ss.R., profesor de teología del Seminario de San Carlos Borromeo en Pennsylvania, sera el orador invitado. Habrá confesiones de 12 mediodia a 2:00 de la tarde. Desde que el aborto fue legalizado en los Estados Unidos hace 42 años con la decisión de la Corte Suprema de Roe v. Wade, han habido aproximadamente 57 millones de abortos en los Estados Unidos.
