GLENDALE, ARIZONA PAGE 3 Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 19, 2014 Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God. Matthew 22:21 Volume 43 Kick up your boots at The Wild West Night SLK School Dear Parishioner, What a contrast to the commands of Christ in today s Good News: Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God What belongs to God. We will get in trouble with the law if we do not give back to Caesar the things that are Caesar s, but we have the most to lose if we do not give back to God the things that are God s. It can be easy to put off praying or going to church until later or to promise to be a better person once our circumstances change, but for some, tomorrow will not come so we must give back to God what is God s today. Our love for God grows and develops through prayer and good works in His church. At our baptism we received God s love and through the Sacrament of Reconciliation we receive God s forgiveness. Everything we are and have has been given to us by Him and, in return, He asks for our participation in the Eucharist, a relationship with him through prayer, and obedience to his commandments. That is why we are here today, to give to Him our gratitude, our expressions of faith as we praise Him, and to receive Him as our hope for eternal happiness. Whether a king or street sweeper, an astronaut or truck driver, a business tycoon or grocery clerk, each of us has the same number of hours in a day. Many necessities and opportunities demand much of our day. Our work takes up a large percentage of our life. Being a good husband or wife, father or mother, employer or employee requires time. A faithful steward serves because he has such a heart for God. As we have seen, everything we have is a gift from God. Every second of every minute, every minute of every hour, twenty-four hours a day belong to Him. Keeping track of how you spend your day can be of great value in evaluating the stewardship of your time. Record the number of hours spent on business, sleep, Christian service, recreation, etc. Determine if there are blocks of time that could be better spent in service of the Lord and where opportunities to do such service can be worked into your schedule.

This practice is generally a scam. We have had the same people come multiple times per year with new stories. They also will tell you, they have the Pastor s permission. This is not the case. Father Joseph and Father Diskin have never authorized this practice. If special solicitations are ever requested, an announcement will come form the pulpit after mass.
