DESCRIPTION Mini ESN. EDIBON Mini Scada-Net System allows up to 30 students to work with an EDIBON Computer Controlled Unit in any laboratory, simultaneously. The Mini ESN system consists on the adaptation of one of the EDIBON Computer Controlled Units with SCADA integrated in a local network. This system allows to view/control the unit remotely, from any computer integrated in the local net (in the classroom), through the main computer connected to the unit. Then, the number of possible users who can work with the same unit is higher than in an usual way of working (usually only one). Main characteristics: - It allows up to 30 students to work simultaneously with one of the EDIBON Computer Controlled Units with SCADA, connected in a local network. - Open Control Multicontrol Real Time Control Multi Student Post. - Instructor controls and explains to all students at the same time. - Any user/student can work doing "real time" control/multicontrol and visualisation. - Instructor can see in the computer what any user/student is doing in the unit. - Continuous communication between the instructor and all the users/students connected. - The system is supplied with all necessary accessories, computers...etc. - The system has its own manual. Main advantages: - It allows an easier a quicker understanding. - This system allows you to spare time and cost. Description (continuation) Working levels: a) Instructor s control/students visualisation: Instructor controls the unit meanwhile the users/students view the actions, in their computer screens. This would be a good first stage to learn how to work with the system. This could help to the users know how to control the system from their own computer. b) Students control: The instructor lets the control of the unit to one or more users/students, who will be able to obtain their own results. The rest of the users will visualise the actions of their mates, or maybe take the control afterwards. It is possible to divide the class in working groups. If any of the users has a question or a doubt about the practice, he just has to start a multiuser chat with the instructor through a window in the software. It is possible to send messages to all the users and to share files. Regarding big laboratories in which it is difficult to see the unit working from all working posts, each user will be able to see the unit they are working with, through a camera previously installed in the unit. This will be used just to have an idea of how the unit looks like and how it s working and changes done when some action is sent to the unit from any user s computer. To make easy the visualisation, a projector with its screen is provided. The number of students can be modified depending on the customer requirements. A typical Mini-ESN system is constituted by one unit and 20 students, for example. The system is prepared to communicate an undefined number of computers. It will depend on the net features. All the communications are made through a TCP/IP connection, which provides a high security and speed data transfer. The network lets transfer video data, binary data, files... In this system, there are different configuration levels that allow the Instructor to design different practical exercises. SPECIFICATIONS SUMMARY The system will consist on the following group of elements: 1) Computer Controlled Unit, with SCADA: Computer Controlled Unit itself. EDIBON SCADA System: Control interface box to get the sensors (parameters) signals and to control the actuators. Data Acquisition Board (DAB), sappling data: 250 KS/second (kilo samples per second). Software: Computer Control Data Acquisition Data Management Software. IMPORTANT!: Detailed specifications in any Computer Controlled Unit Catalogue. 2) Computers (PC): Computer for the Computer Controlled Unit. Instructor s computer. Students computers. Local Net. 3) Unit Adaptation: Any of the computer controlled units requires some modifications in the control interface box in order to allow manipulating and managing all the signals given by the sensors. Each unit uses more or less different number of sensors, depending of the parameters involved in the process and we are interested to measure. 4) Software Adaptation: Any of the computer controlled units requires its complex software adaptation. This software will allow, among others, the unit to be controlled separately. 5) Webcam: The unit will have a web cam in order to see, in the user/student computer, how it is working. 6) Mini ESN Software to control the whole system. 7) Classroom accessories and complements. Specifications subject to change without previous notice, due to the convenience of improvements of the product. * REPRESENTATIVE: C/ Del Agua, 14.
