5 This symposium is focused on innovation, exploring new methods of exploration and explotation of energetic resources that meet the current global energy demand. In the field of hydrocarbons, the study of unconventional reservoir and new exploration technologies, promoting interdisciplinary work of professionals in the areas of geology, geophysics and engineering. Promote the study and research of economic geology in our Department and our country. Advance in the knowledge of the most important mineral deposit models in our country. Bringing together some of the most recognized worldwide specialists in the field of metallogeny and the results of their latest research.

6 General Objectives: Provide training courses for students to develop competencies and skills that improve their quality and performance in the exploration field. Create a space in which to deepen and carry out activities related to study methods used in the characterization of the deposits. Being a bridge between industry and academia ties generated through integration of academic, career fair and a business that will benefit both. Organize the 3rd Annual Meeting of Colombian Student Chapters. Organize the COLOMBIAN - SEG CHALLENGE BOWL.

7 Specific Objectives: Deepen the concepts on unconventional hydrocarbon deposits and their exploration and explotation techniques. Study the process to mapping hydrotermal alteration zones. Understanding how different disciplines are combined when a hydrocarbon reservoir characterization. Understand broadly the petrogenetic and metallogenic processes related to arc magmatism. Understand the importance of offshore exploration and its implication in our country. Knowing the origin of some mineral deposits in Colombia. Promote the participation of different entities (academic and industry) in research projects related to mineral deposits present in the region and country. Provide a presentation space for undergraduate students and students with projects in development.

11 The Symposium will be developed as follow: May short courses were held during the day. On 23 May evening will be held an Inauguration Ceremony. 24 May will be held the lectures. In the evening the 3rd Annual Meeting of Colombian Student Chapters. May 25 thesis presentations by undergraduate students of the Geology Deparment UIS, and also give continuity to the lectures by professionals. In the afternoon will be held the WorkShop Fair and in the evening the National SEG CHALLENGE BOWL.
