HELPING HANDS DINNER For the last ten years Helping Hands has sponsored a shelter program for people who are homeless in Rockland County. Last winter 186 men and women were provided hot meals and a place to sleep. St. Peter and St. Mary Church together with 25 other communities of faith offered space for this program. On Tuesday, November 10 th, from 6PM to 9:30PM, Helping Hands will have its Annual Gala Dinner and Auction at the Pearl River Hilton. Please call for more information. ALL SOULS NOVENA Our All Souls Novena will begin this Monday, November 2nd. Enrollment envelopes can be placed in the collection basket or brought to the rectory office. Extra envelopes for those who need them are available in the rear of the church on the shelves by the center doors. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS The Religious Education Program is open from 9:30AM to 2:00PM Monday thru Thursday and Monday thru Wednesday nights 6:00PM 8:30PM. Please call for more information. The Confirmation Commitment Mass was last Sunday, October 4 th. Thank you to all the students and their families who attended the Mass and showed the true commitment to this sacrament. We had our first Confirmation meeting in English for parents and the candidate last Tuesday. An important packet was given out with dated information which is due by January 11 th. There will be a Confirmation meeting in Spanish for the parent and candidate on Tuesday, November 17 th at 7PM in the school gym. This is a mandatory meeting. All candidates for Confirmation were given their Saint report in class this past week. This report is due on December 7 th, There will be a First Communion meeting in Spanish on Tuesday, November 10 th at 7PM also in the school gym. Lastly, we are still in need of volunteers to help us teach a 7 th grade class on Monday nights. It would be ideal to have two teachers in a class. Please pray about it, talk to those who teach religion class. It is such a wonderful experience to be able to share and witness your faith to the future of our church. CENA DE MANOS QUE AYUDAN (Helping Hands) Por los últimos 10 años Manos que ayudan ha apadrinado un Programa de refugio para personas desamparadas en el condado de Rockland. El pasado invierno 186 hombres y mujeres recibieron alimentos calientes y un lugar para dormir. La Iglesia San Pedro-Santa María junto a otras 25 comunidades de fe ofrecieron espacio para este programa. El martes 10 de Noviembre de 6PM a 9:30PM. Manos que Ayudan tendrá su Cena de Gala anual y Subasta en el Pearl River Hilton. Para más información, favor de llamar al NOVENA EN FAVOR DE LAS ALMAS DE TODOS LOS FIELES DIFUNTOS Una novena a favor de las almas de los fieles difuntos comenzara este lunes, 2do de noviembre. Para inscribir a sus fieles difuntos ponga su nombre en uno de los sobres. Puede ponerlo en la canasta de la colecta o puede traerlo a la rectoría. En la parte de atrás de la iglesia, por las puertas centrales, hay sobres extras para aquellos que los necesiten. PROGRAMA DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSA El Programa de Catecismo estará abierto de lunes a jueves de 9:30AM hasta las 2:00PM y de noche lunes hasta miércoles de 6PM hasta las 8:30PM. Por favor llame al para más información. La Misa de Compromiso para los jóvenes que van hacer la Confirmación fue este domingo pasado. Gracias a todos los estudiantes y sus familias que asistieron a la Misa y demostraron el compromiso verdadero de este Sacramento. Tuvimos nuestra primera reunión de confirmación en inglés para los padres y el candidato el pasado martes. Un paquete importante fue dado que tiene que ser entregado antes o el día debo que es el11 de enero. Habrá una reunión de confirmación en español para los padres y el candidato el martes, 17 de noviembre a 7:00PM en el gimnasio de la escuela. Esta es una reunión imperativa. Todos los candidatos de confirmación recibieron su informe de Santo en clase la semana pasada. Este informe es debo el 7 de diciembre de Habrá una reunión en Español el 10 de Noviembre. Esta reunión es a las 7PM en el gimnasio de la escuela. Finalmente, estamos necesitando voluntarios que nos puedan ayudar a enseñar una clase de 7º grado los lunes de noche en inglés. Sería ideal de tener dos maestros en una clase. Por favor oren sobre él, hablar con aquellos que enseñan la clase de religión. Es una experiencia maravillosa poder compartir y ser testigo de su fe para el futuro de nuestra iglesia. Planes de lecciones se darían así como clases para prepararte. 4 PEACE AND JOY CONCERT AND RAFFLE Last year our Peace and Joy Concert was totally new. It featured presentations from the music ministries of our parish. The performances were Spirit-filled and excellent. That very night a new tradition was begun in St. Peter and St. Mary Parish: a true parish Peace and Joy Concert. This year our concert will take place on Friday, December 4 th. Following the concert our celebration will continue in the school gym with refreshments and our concert raffle. Please mark the date on your calendars. THANKSGIVING TURKEY DONATIONS On Saturday, November 21 st, our Food Pantry will be giving out bags of food for Thanksgiving. We welcome donations of turkeys, but our storage space for them is limited. If you plan to donate a frozen turkey please call our rectory office before you bring it in order to make sure that we have space to store it in our freezer. St. Peter St. Mary parishioners, who qualify at Shop Rite for a free turkey ($ in purchases), should get the turkey and bring it to the register. The cashier will process the transaction and give the parishioner a receipt indicating that they received a free turkey. The parishioner should then take the turkey along with their receipt and bring it to the courtesy counter. ShopRite will store the turkeys for pickup by food pantry staff early Saturday morning on 11/21/15. Thank you for your generous support. FEAST OF OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE Our Blessed Mother is celebrated under this title at the Patroness of Puerto Rico. November 19 th is the date of this feast; this is the same date on which Puerto Rico was discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. The date for the feast was set by Pope Paul VI in 1969, almost five centuries after this expedition of Columbus. Prior to this the feast had been observed on January 2 nd. In the image of La Providencia the infant Jesus sleeps peacefully on the lap of Mary: our Lord experienced the providence and care of our Blessed Mother years before he proclaimed the loving providence of God in his ministry. Our parishioners who were born in Puerto Rico or who are descended from Puerto Rican parents will celebrate this patronal feast at the 12:45PM Mass on Sunday, November 22 nd. They will continue the celebration with a party in the school gymnasium after Mass. All our parishioners are welcome to come. ANNUAL PARISH BLOOD DRIVE Hosted by St. Peter s Parish, Tuesday, November 24, From 4:00to 9:00pm. In the School Gymnasium. Please bring ID with photo or signature. Eat well and drink fluids before you donate. Walk-ins always welcome. GOD S TYM FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEENS God s TYM our parish group for teens in high school (grades 9 through 12) meets each Sunday. It begins with Mass at 5PM followed by dinner and a meeting. All high school teens are welcome!! ST. PETER WOMEN S GROUP SCHEDULE Our Women s Group is meeting at 11:00AM on the second and fourth Saturday of the month in the Parish Hall underneath the church.. The group will meet next on Saturday, November 14 th. Please join them for prayer and work to help others. CONCIERTO DE PAZ Y ALEGRIA Y RIFA El año pasado nuestro Concierto de Paz y Alegría era totalmente nuevo. El concierto ofreció presentaciones de los ministerios musicales de nuestra iglesia. Las presentaciones eran excelentes y llenas del Espiritu. Esa misma noche se comenzó una nueva tradición en nuestra parroquia: un verdadera tradición parroquial. Este ano nuestro concierto se presenta el viernes, 4 de diciembre. Después del concierto nuestra celebración continuara en el gimnasio de la escuela con un refrigerio y nuestra rifa del tiempo de Navidad. Favor de marcar la fecha en su calendario. DONACIONES DE PAVOS PARA EL DÍA DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS El sábado 21º de noviembre, nuestra Despensa de Alimentos estará distribuyendo fundas de comida para el Día de Acción de Gracias. Estaremos muy agradecidos de las donaciones de pavos, pero el espacio con que contamos para guardarlos es limitado. Si está planeando donar un pavo congelado, favor de llamar a la oficina de la rectoría antes de traerlo, para así asegurarnos, que tendremos el espacio para guardarlo en el congelador. Los feligreses que califican para recibir un pavo gratis de Shop Rite ($ en compras), deben buscar su pavo y llevarlo a la registradora. La registradora procesará la transacción y dará al feligrés un recibo indicando que recibió un pavo gratis. El feligrés deberá tomar el pavo, junto al recibo que le han dado, y llevarlo al mostrador de cortesía. Shop Rite guardara los pavos para ser recogidos por la Despensa de Alimentos, el sábado temprano en la mañana, del 21º de noviembre. Gracias por su apoyo generoso. FIESTA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA PROVIDENCIA Nuestra Santísima Madre es celebrada bajo este título como la Patrona de Puerto Rico. El 19 de Noviembre es el día de su festividad. Esta es también la fecha en la cual fue descubierta Puerto Rico por Cristóbal Colon, en el 1493, el su segundo viaje. La fecha de esta celebración fue fijada por el Papa Paulo VI en el 1969, casi cinco siglos después de la expedición de Cristóbal Colon. Antes de tal acontecer dicha fiesta era observada el 2 de enero. En la imagen de La Providencia, el infante Jesús duerme en paz en las piernas de María: Nuestro Señor experimentó la providencia y cuidado de nuestra Santísima Madre, años antes de proclamar la providencia amorosa de Dios en su ministerio. Nuestros feligreses que nacieron en Puerto Rico, o que descienden de padres puertorriqueños, celebraran esta fiesta patronal en la Misa de las 12:45PM, del domingo, día 22º de Noviembre. Ellos van a presentar una fiesta en el gimnasio de la escuela, después de la Misa. Todos los feligreses están invitados. CAMPAÑA PARROQUIAL DE DONACIÓN DE SANGRE El martes, día 24º de Noviembre, de 4:00 hasta las 9:00PM la Iglesia San Pedro conducirá su campaña de donación de sangre en el gimnasio de la escuela. Por favor traiga una identificación con su foto o con su firma. Coma bien y tome mucho líquido antes de su donación. GOD S TYM PARA ADOLESCENTES DE ESCUELA SECUNDARIA GOD S TYM es nuestro grupo parroquial de adolescentes en la escuela secundaria (grados 9 a 12) se reúne cada Domingo.
