Our God is a God for all. That s the good news. But this demands effort on our part; it calls for the discipline of a fitness program. While the image of God as a father who disciplines his child, who scourges every son he acknowledges, is repugnant in our day, the author is quick to link such scourging with the trials life brings us, emphasizing that such discipline can later bring the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who learn from it. The goal is to be strong enough to run the race and win the crown of eternal life, to strengthen our drooping hands and weak knees. In the gospel Jesus urges us to strive to enter through the narrow gate again, the no on of being disciplined so that we will not be among those who will a,empt to enter but will not be strong enough. Nuestro Dios es un Dios para todos. Esa es la buena no cia. Pero esto exige un esfuerzo de nuestra parte; exige la disciplina de un programa de acondicionamiento :sico. Mientras que la imagen de Dios como un padre que disciplina a su hijo, que "azota a todo aquel que reconoce como hijo," es repugnante en nuestros días, el autor vincula tales "azotes" a las pruebas que la vida nos presenta, haciendo hincapié en que esta disciplina puede después traer el "fruto apacible de la jus cia" a aquellos que aprenden de ella. El obje vo es ser lo suficientemente fuerte como para correr la carrera y ganar la corona de la vida eterna; "fortalecer las manos caídas y las rodillas débiles." En el evangelio Jesús nos impulsa a tratar de entrar por la puerta estrecha otra vez, la noción de ser disciplinado para que no estemos entre los que "trataran de entrar pero no serán lo suficientemente fuerte." Cómo ha sen do la "disciplina" de Dios a través de una prueba que le haya fortalecido? This year's theme is "Open the Door of Faith!" This event includes a keynote address by Monsignor Roberto Garza, Rector and President of St. John Vianney College Seminary, music, workshops and exhibits.
