9 Los mandatos familiares (Familiar Commands) Commands are used to give an order or tell someone what to do. Guarda el archivo, cierra el programa y apaga el ordenador. Save the file, close the program and turn off the computer. No abras correos electrónicos de desconocidos. Don t open s from strangers.
10 Los mandatos familiares (Familiar Commands) There are different kinds of commands depending on the social situation. When speaking to someone who you would address as tú, use a familiar/informal command.
11 Los mandatos familiares (Familiar Commands) There are two types of familiar/informal commands: 1) Affirmative Commands (Mandatos afirmativos) Affirmative commands are used to tell someone what to do. Imprime una copia para mí también. Print a copy for me too. Affirmative commands are formed by simply using the present tense 3 rd person (él/ella/ud) form of the verb!

13 Los mandatos familiares (Familiar Commands) 2) Negative Commands (Mandatos negativos) Negative commands are used to tell someone NOT to do something. No uses tu teléfono celular mientras conduces. Don t use your cell phone while driving.
14 Los mandatos familiares (Familiar Commands) To form a negative command: 1. Start with the present tense yo form 2. Drop the o from the end 3. Add the OPPOSITE tú form verb ending as shown below -AR -es No olvides de guardar el archivo. Don t forget to save the file. -ER / -IR -as No imprimas en color. Es muy caro! Don t print in color. It s very expensive!
