6 TexasOne SM marketing efforts create relationships with companies and site selection professionals. These relationships result in increased relocations. Companies and communities work with the Office of the Governor to research real estate and available state incentive opportunities. The Office of the Governor works to bring community partners together with companies to advance the site selection process. Community partners work with the Office of the Governor to provide the most beneficial incentive package possible.

7 The state s vision to build its future economy includes the cluster initiative. The cluster initiative was created to provide a coordinated, market-driven economic development strategy focusing on industries with the greatest growth potential. Texas six industry clusters include: Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Aerospace & Defense Biotechnology Energy Information and Computer Technology Petroleum Refining and Chemical Products

8 The Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF), touted as the largest deal-closing fund of its kind in the nation, continues to attract business and jobs to Texas by filling the critical gaps in funding that can limit relocation or expansion. As of January 2012, the Texas Enterprise Fund has: awarded more than $443.4 million, announced over 62,004 new jobs and generated more than $15.4 billion in capital investment. The TEF is a cash grant that is tied directly to the number of jobs created and wages paid for the project. Capital investment is also considered.

9 The Emerging Technology Fund, created in 2005, provides Texas with an unparalleled advantage by expediting the development and commercialization of new university-led technologies and by recruiting the best research talent in the world. The ETF is a partnership with the state, whereas the state retains a vested interest in early stage companies. More than $190.5 million in ETF funds have been allocated to 133 early stage companies, and nearly $179.6 million in grant matching and research superiority funds to Texas universities.

10 The Enterprise Zone is a state tax incentive awarded following job creation. This is an economic development tool where local communities partner with the State of Texas to promote job creation and capital investment in economically disadvantaged areas of the state. 15 Visa B-1 para visitas de negocios Permite visitas a los EE.UU. para celebrar reuniones de todo tipo, realizar negociaciones, firmar contratos, fundar sociedades mercantiles, comprar una casa o un activo. No permite trabajar en los EE.UU. No permite cobrar un salario en los EE.UU. Requiere que el visitante tenga una intención firme de regresar a su país de origen.

16 Visa E-1 Comerciante de Tratado La visa E-1 permite a comerciantes con la Nacionalidad de países con Tratados llevar a cabo negocios entre EE.UU. y el país del tratado. La visa está amparada bajo el Tratado entre EE.UU. y otro país como Argentina-1994, Chile-2004, etc. (Brazil aun no tiene tratado). 17 Visa E-2 Inversionista de Tratado La visa E-2 permite a los inversionistas de países con tratados invertir en un negocio de su elección en los EE.UU. La visa está amparada bajo el Tratado entre EE.UU. Y otro país como Argentina-1994, Chile-2004, etc. (Brazil aun no tiene tratado). La inversión deberá ser: substancial, en dinero, en equipo o activos y en un negocio establecido, o que está cerca de iniciar operaciones.

18 E-1 & E-2: Rasgos en común La mayoría del capital de la empresa deberá ser propiedad de los ciudadanos de países con Tratados. Permite que el inversionista mismo obtenga una visa para gestionar su inversión. Permite también que el inversionista obtenga una visa E-1 o E-2 para ejecutivos, gerentes o empleados especializados, para que ellos trabajen en la empresa en EE.UU. siempre y cuando sean ciudadanos de países con Tratados. Se puede presentar la solicitud ante el Servicio de Inmigración en los EE.UU. o directamente ante un Consulado de los EE.UU. en países con Tratados.

19 Visa L-1 para el traslado de personal o para abrir una nueva oficina Permite el traslado de ejecutivos, gerentes o trabajadores especializados dentro del mismo grupo de la empresa. El empleado debe haber trabajado por lo menos 1 año de los últimos tres años en la empresa en cualquier país. Deberá tener contrato a tiempo completo. La visa L-1 es una visa de 1 año, exclusivamente para fundar una nueva oficina en los EE.UU. Período: hasta 7 años para ejecutivos y gerentes; hasta 5 años para trabajadores especializados. Visa L-1 para ejecutivos/ gerentes funciona bien con la residencia permanente.
