1 Lesson 58 : everything, anything each, every Lección 58 : todo, nada cada, todos Reading (Lectura) Is everything okay? ( Está todo bien?) Don t worry, everything will be fine. (No te preocupes, todo estará bien.) Everything is expensive nowadays. (Todo es caro actualmente.) I don t know anything about it. (No sé nada sobre eso.) Do you know anything about India? ( Conoces algo sobre India?) I will do anything for you. (Haré lo que sea por ti.) 1
2 Each car should be handled with care. Each new day is different. (Cada nuevo día es diferente.) (Cada coche debe ser tratado con cuidado.) Each of my uncles gave me a gift for my birthday. (Cada uno de mis tíos me dio un regalo por mi cumpleaños.) The bus leaves every hour. (El autobús sale cada hora.) Every boy in the class went to the party. (Todos los chicos de la clase fueron a la fiesta.) Every artist sees things differently. (Todos los artistas ven las cosas diferentes.) 2
3 Grammar focus (Enfoque gramatical) Everything significa todas las personas, todos los lugares o cosas afectadas por la acción. Va seguido de un verbo en presente. E.g.) Everything looks different. (Todo parece diferente.) Anything en una pregunta o en una oración afirmativa significa una cosa de cualquier tipo. Especialmente en una pregunta, indica el significado de libre elección. En una oración negativa significa nada en absoluto. La palabra también es seguida por la forma infinitiva del verbo. E.g.) I will do anything for you. (Haré lo que sea por ti.) I don t know anything about it. (No sé nada sobre eso.) Is there anything else you want me to do? ( Hay algo más que quieres que haga?) Usamos each para referirnos a cosas individuales en un grupo. Se considera singular por lo que toma un verbo singular. E.g.) Each car is handled with care. (Cada coche es tratado con cuidado.) Usamos each of antes de sustantivo / pronombre con un determinante (el, esto, mi, tu) y (ellos y nosotros) después de "cada uno de". E.g.) Each of my uncles gave me presents for my birthday. (Cada uno de mis tíos me dio un regalo por mi cumpleaños.) 3
4 Usamos every para referirnos a un grupo o lista de tres o más cosas. También se utiliza para mostrar la frecuencia con la que sucede algo. Se considera singular por lo que toma un verbo singular. E.g.) Every boy in the class went to the party. (Todos los chicos de la clase fueron a la fiesta.) The bus leaves every hour. (El autobús sale cada hora.) 4
5 Speaking (Conversación) 1) The refrigerator is empty. Alex ate everything. (El refrigerador está vacío. Alex se comió todo.) 2) We were not hungry so we did not eat anything. (No teníamos hambre a si que no comimos nada.) 3) The film was in English so I could not understand anything they said. (La película estaba en inglés así que no pudimos entender nada de lo que decían.) 4) My father said everything happens for a reason. (Mi papá dijo que todo ocurre por alguna razón.) 5) As long as you are not doing anything wrong, there is nothing to worry about. (Mientras no estés haciendo nada malo, no hay nada de lo que preocuparse.) 6) I play with my dog every Saturday morning. (Juego con mi perro todos los sábados por la mañana.) 7) Every difficult situation teaches us something. (Toda situación difícil te enseña algo.) 8) Each success has some failure along the way. (Cada éxito tiene algún fracaso en el camino.) 9) Each of the girls was given a gift. (Cada una de las chicas recibió un regalo.) 10) I bought each of them an ice cream. (Compré un helado para cada uno de ellos.) 5
6 Gap Filling (Rellena los espacios) Rellena los espacios vacíos con las respuestas correctas. 1) Your friend said, but I didn t understand. (Tu amigo dijo todo, pero no entendí nada.) 2) As it is your birthday, you can order you want from the menu. (Como es tu cumpleaños, puedes pedir lo que quieras del menú.) 3) pack of cigarettes has a health warning. (Cada paquete de cigarros tiene un aviso de salud.) 4) The supervisor wants to speak to employee in his office. (El supervisor quiere hablar con todos los empleados en su oficina.) 5) There isn t in the refrigerator. (No hay nada en el refrigerador) 6) The children enjoyed minute of their holiday. (El niño disfrutó cada minuto de sus vacaciones.) 7) There were cars parked on side of the street. (Había coches estacionados en cada lado de la calle.) 8) Is there I could do for you? ( Hay algo que pueda hacer por ti?) 9) book on the shelf belongs to my sister. (Cada libro en el librero pertenece a mi hermana.) 6
