2 Pastor s Message ~ Mensaje del Párroco: THREE IN ONE Although Jesus does command his followers to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19), the term Trinity never appears in scripture. The Church believes that this truth has been revealed as the worshiping Church pondered its experience of God. It took three hundred years of such pondering before the Church declared the doctrine of the Trinity: the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one divine Being. It is important to understand that person was traditionally understood as being in relationship to others. So the three persons of the Trinity are three in one: distinct, but one in being. As human beings in the likeness of our creator we cannot go it alone without dire consequences. We are all here to rely on one another, and find increasing joy in a faithful life. TRES EN UNO Aunque Jesús envía a sus discípulos a bautizar en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo (Mateo 28:19) la palabra Trinidad no aparece nunca en las Escrituras. La Iglesia cree que esta verdad ha sido revelada a medida que la Iglesia reflexionó en su experiencia de Dios. Reflections ~ Reflexiones: Gospel: Matthew 28: A good family is a blessing to be shared. In today's gospel, Jesus speaks to his gathered disciples. He sends them out to draw others into the family of God. They are to make disciples in every nation and baptize them "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." They are also to teach these new members of the family everything that Jesus has taught them. We are called to this same mission. And Jesus promises to be with us always as we share our faith in him. 1.) What ideas do you have about how your parish can reach out to people from other nations and cultures? 2.) How will you share these ideas? Evangelio: Mateo 28: Una buena familia es una bendición que se debe compartir. En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús habla a sus discípulos. Tables will be set up in front of the Church to answer questions and collect your completed card from the first Ministry Fair date.. A Commitment Card and Organizations list will be handed out to parishioners who still need them. Some 40 plus Parish organizations will have representatives to answer your questions and/or to help you in deciding how you could fulfill your discipleship/stewardship support. Mission Cultural Center for Latinos Arts: For the 24th consecutive year, the MCCLA will introduce children and youth (ages 6-16), to the various artistic disciplines and local artists in a dynamic and entertaining summer program. Participants will develop hands-on experience with the use of tools and materials related to the chosen artistic discipline, and will collaborate in a final exhibition/performance, entertaining participants families and the local community. Participants will be pre-assigned to classes according to their area of interest and availability. Some classes to be offered this year include: Yoga, various types of dance, Arts & Crafts, Martial Arts, Theater, Percussion, Fashion Design, Mexican Folk Dance, and more. Lunch will be provided. Year of Consecrated Life: In response to the call of Pope Francis who declared 2015 the Year of Consecrated Life, the Archdiocesan Council of Religious is presenting the film, "Women and Spirit" based on the exhibit of the same name which toured throughout the United States. This film chronicles the history of the thousands of Sisters who came to this country and founded the Catholic School system, built hospitals, orphanages, homes for the poor, mental institutions, and many more programs benefitting the poor and marginalized. Following the film, there will be a panel of religious who will speak of their work in the Archdiocese as well as throughout the world and who will inspire each of us to live our baptismal call to discipleship. Envíe los formularios a Jenny a la Oficina Parroquial a más tardar el viernes 3 de Julio LA TRINIDAD DE AMOR: Una de las más antiguas, más poéticas y más hermosas descripciones de la Santísima Trinidad se halla en le libro De Trinitate, por san Agustín. Allí, el santo describe a la Trinidad como Uno que ama (el Padre), Uno que es amado (el Hijo) y Uno que es el amor (el Espíritu Santo). Y esos tres Unos suman Uno solo. Tal vez lo mejor para nosotros sea dejar las dificultades técnicas de este misterio a los teólogos profesionales, y enfocarnos en el hecho que las tres Personas de la Santísima Trinidad son precisamente personas; se les conoce y se les comprende en su amor mutuo y en su amor hacia nosotros. Hemos sido creados a imagen y semejanza de esas tres Personas amorosas, y nuestras mejores relaciones se viven en el contexto del amor. Las relaciones verdaderamente amorosas son misterios inagotables que se expresan en una profunda felicidad. Y si esto es así en nuestras relaciones humanas, cuánto más lo será en nuestra relación con la Santísima Trinidad! Y, cuánto más somos llamados a dar un testimonio alegre y amoroso de este sagrado misterio de los Tres que son Uno! Este es el misterio que fuimos llamados a vivir cuando fuimos escogidos como hijos de Dios, bautizados en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
