Panther Prep is a series of workshops and fun activities to kick off the school year! Please be sure that your student knows what classroom to go to. Questions? See the HUGE poster in the front of the school. Students will get their official schedule during Panther Prep. NOTE: SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE between registration and the start of school. The last day for any schedule changes is 9/2/16. Bear in mind that schedule changes are based on availability of courses and not a guarantee. PE CLOTHES FOR SALE IN FRONT OF SCHOOL ON FIRST DAY PTSA will be selling PE clothes on the front lawn of CCMS on the first day of school if you did not get a chance to buy them! Students will not need their PE clothes for at least the first week so no need to rush or send them with the kids until they get direction from their PE teacher! SUMMER READING WILL BE DUE THIS WEEK Click here for the SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT that is required for all students! English teachers will be using summer reading this week! WELCOME CHRISTINE LOBITZ, ASST. PRINCIPAL Ms. Lobitz is so excited to be a part of the CCMS Admin Team. She comes to us with a decade of middle school teaching experience from Hart Union School District. She has already immersed herself in the CCMS community and she can t wait to meet all of you!

2 ENGLISH LEARNER PARENT NIGHT Our first of a series of English Learner Parent Nights is Thursday, 8/25 at 5:00 p.m. in the CCMS Computer Lab. Please refer to the student dress code when shopping for new clothing--off the shoulder tops are going to be very in style but unfortunately does not meet the dress code! Please help us! Students will be given PE clothes to change into if they do not meet the dress code. CCMS DRESS STANDARDS The following guidelines shall apply to attendance at school and all school activities and events: Students shall give proper attention to personal cleanliness and neatness of dress we want students to dress for success! Pajamas are not allowed at school. Shoes that are closed toe and closed back are to be worn at all times. No slippers, house shoes or shoes with high heels (this includes wedges) are allowed. Students who are not wearing proper shoes will remain in the office until parent/guardian brings appropriate footwear. Students must have proper shoes for PE (Crocs, Toms, Uggs and ballet flats are not proper shoes) and students will earn a non-dress for the day. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all times. Spaghetti straps, see-through, sheer, see through lace, fishnet fabrics (clothing with large holes), halter tops, off the shoulder, low cut tops, bare midriffs, short skirts and shorts, and swimwear are prohibited. See through shirts may be worn over a t-shirt that meets dress code. All tank tops must have straps at least 2 fingers wide or 1 in width.

3 *ALL skirts and shorts must be as long as the index finger when hands are placed to the student s side. Jeans with holes are allowed as long as the holes/rips are not excessive; rips/holes in jeans need to be below the student s index finger when hands are placed to the student s side No piercings that pose a safety risk of any kind are allowed. Dress, grooming or accessories that are considered unsafe, dangerous, a health hazard or disruptive to the learning environment shall not be allowed. Clothing and accessories may not have spikes or any other metal parts that may be a safety concern. Chain wallets and bandanas are prohibited. Dress, accessories and jewelry which contain obscene symbols, signs or slogans, and/or which slur or degrade on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sex, disability or sexual orientation and impose a threat of imminent violence or disruption to the orderly operation of the school shall not be worn. Dress, grooming or accessories that contain language or symbols supporting sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or gang association shall not be worn. Baggy pants are not to be worn. Pants need to be properly fitted and/or worn with a belt. We should not see under garments (i.e. boys underwear/boxers; girls bras, undershirts or underwear). Only Culver City Middle School hats are allowed on campus. Hats and hoods are expected to be removed inside classrooms, library, etc. CCMS hats are available for purchase at registration and from the student store. GUARDAR LA FECHA PARA LA NOCHE DE REGRESO A LA ESCUELA La noche de regreso a la escuela será miércoles, 14 de septiembre de 2016 con inicio de sesión de información a las 5pm. Más información por venir. Asegúrese de conocer a los maestros de sus hijos y ponerle una cara al nombre! Esperamos verlos! IRA DE COMPRAS PARA EL REGRESO A LA ESCUELA? Por favor, consulte el código de vestir del estudiante cuando vaya de compras de ropa nueva. Las blusas sin la parte superior del hombro, aunque sean muy en estilo, lamentablemente no cumplen con el código de vestimento! Por favor ayúdenos. Los estudiantes recibirán ropa de educación física para cambiarse si no cumplen con el código de vestimentao. NORMAS DE VESTIDO DE CCMS Las siguientes pautas serán aplicadas a la asistencia de la escuela y a todas las actividades y eventos escolares: Los estudiantes deben prestar la debida atención al aseo personal y limpieza en el vestir queremos que los estudiantes se vistan para el éxito! No se permiten pijamas a la escuela. Zapatos que estén completamente cerrados sin que los pies se miren deben ser usados a todo momento. No se permiten zapatillas de casa, zapatillas o zapatos de tacón (esto incluye wedges ). Los estudiantes deben usar zapatos apropiadas para PE (zapatos que no son apropiados son Crocs, Toms, Uggs y zapatos planos del ballet) y los estudiantes también recibirán un non-dress novestido por el día. La ropa debe ser suficiente para cubrir la ropa interior a todo momento. Blusas con tirantes delgaditos, trasparente, de encaje transparente, de malla (ropa con hoyos grandes), escotadas/sin tirantes de cualquier tipo, blusas descotadas, descotado de los hombros, descotado del estomago, faldas cortas y pantalones cortos, y trajes de baño son prohibidos. Camisetas trasparentes pueden usarse sobre una camiseta que cumpla con el código de vestimento. Todas las camisetas/blusas deben tener los tirantes de 2 dedos de ancho 0 una 1 pulgada en medida. *Todas las faldas y pantalones cortos deben ser tan largo como el dedo índice cuando las manos son colocadas a los lados del estudiante. Pantalones de mezclilla con hoyos son aceptables solamente si los hoyos/rotos no son excesivas. No se permite las perforaciones de cualquier tipo si se presume ser de algún tipo de riesgo. El vestuario, el aseo o accesorios que se consideren un peligro, un riesgo para la salud o un perjudicial para el ambiente de aprendizaje no serán permitidos. La ropa y los accesorios no pueden ser traer metal puntiagudo o cualquier otra pieza de metal que pueda ser de algún problema de seguridad. Las carteras con cadena y pañuelos son prohibidos. El vestuario, accesorios y joyas que contienen símbolos obscenos, signos o eslogan, y/o que insulten o degrade sobre la base de raza, religión, étnico/a, sexo, discapacidad u orientación sexual e imponen una amenaza de violencia inminente o la interrupción de la operación ordenada de la escuela no se podrá usar.

6 El vestuario, aseo o accesorios que contienen lenguaje o símbolos que apoyen el sexo, las drogas, el alcohol, el tabaco o asociación de pandillas no se podrá usar. Los pantalones demasiado grandes no deben usarse. Los pantalones deben ser ajustados adecuadamente y/o con un cinturón. No queremos que la ropa interior sea visible (ejemplo; barones ropa interior/ bóxers ; hembras brasier, camisetas o ropa interior). Solamente los gorros de Culver City Middle School se pueden usar dentro del campus. Los estudiantes deben quitarse los gorros y capuchas dentro de las aulas, la biblioteca, la oficina, etc. Los gorros CCMS están disponibles para su compra el día de registro y en la tienda estudiantil. Las caras de los estudiantes deben ser completamente visibles a todo momento. El maquillaje facial y mascaras que sean extremas e inapropiadas no se permiten.
