Research shows that the experiences a child has during that time profoundly impacts their future. The Riverside County Children & Families Commission, also known as First 5 Riverside, is a division of the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services. It distributes funding generated from tobacco taxes among services designed to help children through age 5 develop a strong foundation for success in school and throughout their lives. In addition to funding services, First 5 Riverside supports sustainability efforts to help agencies find ways to maintain critical services despite diminishing Proposition 10 funding.
