1 Kindergarten K-3 Summer Literacy Skills Track the words. (Point to each word) Remember to say the beginning sound of a word you don t know and look at the picture to help. (Getting mouth ready) Make predictions based on the title, cover, illustrations, and text. What is the story about? (main idea) Who are the characters? Where does the story take place? (setting) What is the title? Who is the author/wrote the story? Who is the illustrator/drew the pictures? Is the book fiction or nonfiction/a story or informational/real or makebelieve? Why is this story funny? Do you like this book? Why or why not? Which page is your favorite? Why? Retell the story to me. First Grade All of The above plus... What do you predict will happen next? What is the main idea of the book? What is the problem in the story? How did they solve it?(solution) How are these two books alike? How are they different?
