2 Message from Fr. Dan What commandment of God s law is the hardest to keep? It would seem to be the one about loving God with everything, our heart, our soul, our mind, and our spirit. I don t know about you, but my mind can be easily distracted. When I am praying, or doing God s work, or really anything, my mind can be on a thousand other things. But when I turn off all the distractions, the music, the phone, the , the texts, my prayer is better and more fulfilling. Even if it is just for a little while, it fills me up when I am empty. Take time to love God each day, and listen for His voice, and you will find it easier to love those around you as well. Last Chance! Through Nov. 5, you re invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life 40 days of prayer & fasting for an end to abortion. You re also invited to stand & peacefully pray during a 40-day vigil in the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood at 1837 E. Baseline Rd. in Tempe, and also to help spread the word about this important community outreach. 3 The Blue Mass Annual Mass of Thanksgiving Thursday November 9, 2017; 10am at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27 th Ave. Give thanks for our Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters & Emergency Medical Crews. Celebrants are the Most Reverend Thomas J. Olmsted, Bishop of Phoenix and the Most Reverend Eduardo A. Nevares, Auxiliary Bishop of Phoenix. This longtime tradition started by the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix gives the community a chance to give thanks for those who lay their lives on the line to protect our communities daily. The Blue Mass will honor the work of these dedicated men and women as well as those who have died in the line of duty. The names of those who sacrificed their lives this past year will be read, and a candle will be lit to represent each person. The honor guards and speakers will unite together in faith and service. 8 Mensaje de Padre Dan Qué mandamiento de la ley de Dios es la más difícil de guardar? Sería el de Amar a Dios con todo, nuestro corazón, nuestra alma, nuestra mente y nuestro espíritu. No sé ustedes, pero mi mente se puede distraer fácilmente. Cuando estoy orando, o haciendo el trabajo de Dios o realmente cualquier cosa, mi mente puede estar en miles de otras cosas. Pero cuando apago todas las distracciones, la música, el teléfono, el correo electrónico, los textos, mi oración es mejor y más satisfactoria. Incluso si es solo por un tiempo, me llena cuando estoy vacío. Tómese el tiempo para amar a Dios todos los días y escuchar su voz, y también le resultará más fácil amar a quienes lo rodean.
