2 El progresivo un verbo compuesto Se forma: verbo auxiliar, ESTAR + el verbo principal en el GERUNDIO El GERUNDIO se conjuga en una forma, y no pertenece a una persona en particular. El verbo ESTAR se conjuga en seis formas que corresponden a 1ª, 2ª y 3ª personas singular y plural.
3 Forming the gerund to make the progressive -AR verbs (HABLAR) HABLAR (AR) + ando= hablando Hablando is the gerund. estar (1-6) + gerund = progressive
4 estar (1-6) + gerund = progressive Yo estoy hablando. Tú estás hablando. Él o Ella está hablando. Ud. está hablando. Nosotros estamos hablando. Vosotros estáis hablando. Ellos o Ellas están hablando. Uds. están hablando.
5 Otros gerundios ER verbs (COMER) COMER (ER) + iendo = comiendo Estoy comiendo. IR verbs (VIVIR) VIVIR (IR) + iendo = viviendo Estoy viviendo.
6 Otros verbos auxiliares Además que ESTAR, también se usa otros verbos junto con el gerundio para expresar una acción progresiva. SEGUIR + gerundio Aunque estoy cansado sigo trabajando. CONTINUAR + gerundio Continúo diciendo que no tienes razón. IR + gerundio Poco a poco iba mejorando el enfermo.
7 Usos del progresivo Present Progressive Event actually in progress in the present. Ella está durmiendo. She is sleeping. (now) Imperfect Progressive Ongoing event in progress in the past. Tú estabas comiendo. You were eating.(then)
8 Otras formas del progresivo The following progressive forms describe a continuous event that was or will be prolonged over a specific period of time. Preterit Progressive Present Perfect progressive Pluperfect Progressive IR A + progressive (present) IR A + progressive (imperfect)
9 Example Preterit Progressive Estuve hablando con mi amigo por dos horas. I was talking with my friend for two hours.
10 More examples Present Perfect progressive: He estado pensando en viajar por España por los últimos dos días. I have been thinking about traveling to Spain for the past two days. Pluperfect Progressive: Él había estado estudiando para el examen final por un mes. He had been studying for the final exam for a month.
11 Final examples IR A + progressive (present) Mi novio sabe que voy a estar esperándolo por toda la tarde en el aeropuerto. My boyfriend knows that I am going to be waiting for him in the airport for the entire afternoon. IR A + progressive (imperfect) Mi novio sabía que iba a estar esperándolo por toda la tarde en el aeropuerto. My boyfriend knew that I was going to be waiting for him in the airport for the entire afternoon.
12 Repaso Ya conocemos un verbo compuesto el progresivo (presente, pasado, etc.) Se forma así: ESTAR + hablando ESTAR + comiendo ESTAR + viviendo ESTAR + gerundio= progresivo
13 El perfecto es similar Pero se usa el verbo HABER HABER tiene 7 formas, seis normales y una extra en la 3ª persona HAY es irregular y SIEMPRE aparece como verbo solo. HABER tiene 6 otras formas normales en el presente

16 Present Perfect The present perfect tense is frequently used for past actions that continue into the present, or continue to affect the present. It is often accompanied with the word ya (already) Has viajado a España? Have you ever been to Spain?
17 Otros ejemplos Ya has visto la película Volver? Have you already seen the movie Volver? He escrito dos correos hoy. I have written two s today. Nunca he conocido a una persona famosa. I have never met a famous person.
18 Uses of the Past Perfect aka Pluscuamperfecto The past perfect tense is used when a past action was completed prior to another past action. Expressions such as "ya", "antes", "nunca", "todavía" and "después" will often appear in sentences where one action was completed before another.
19 Past Perfect Indicative aka Pluscuamperfecto The past perfect is formed by combining the auxiliary verb HABER in the IMPERFECT with the past participle. Haber había, habías, etc. + past participle HABÍA estudiado = had studied

21 Pluscuamperfecto, ejemplos Cuando llegaron los padres, los niños ya habían comido. When the parents arrived, the children had already eaten. Yo había comido antes de llamarles. I had eaten prior to calling them.
22 Present perfect subjunctive Present Perfect subjunctive Possible event occurring in the time that includes the present. Cuando lo veo, espero que ya haya cumplido el deber. When I see him I hope he has already completed the work.
23 Otros ejemplos Espero que ellos hayan terminado la tarea. I hope the have (already) completed the homework. Ojalá que hayas econtrado un trabajo. Hopefully you have (already) found a job.
