1 Speech Parameters 5(6) A B C Developing Research Skills Objectives: To develop effective research skills To express one s own ideas in a critical way To develop fluency and accuracy while speaking Procedure: Students will work individually throughout the course inside the classroom with the help of their teacher. Students will select a topic from the given list. Each student will have to research and gather information about the topic they chose to talk about, in order to write a formal academic essay which will include the following sections: - Topic - Introduction - Discussion - Conclusions - Bibliography and Webliography (There has to be at least one reference from 1 book and 1 from a magazine) The drafts and PowerPoint presentations must be sent to the following e- mail: speeches.quinto@tae.edu.mx Under subject, students must write their name, group and the topic: Example: Juan Pérez Hernández 5(6) A The evolution of music Once the written information has been approved and corrected, students will develop their PowerPoint presentations at home. The last slide of their presentation will have to show the used Bibliography and Webliography.

2 Parameters: Elección del tema: 18 de septiembre del 2015 Fecha de entrega de información y periodo de preparación del speech en clase: Del 26 de octubre del 2015 al 20 de noviembre del 2015 Entrega del primer draft: 23 de noviembre del 2015 Entrega de revisión final del speech junto con la presentación de PowerPoint: Entrega de la versión final del maestro a los alumnos: Fechas de presentación de speeches: Datos importantes: 2 de febrero del 2016 Del 1 al 8 de marzo del (6) A 25 de abril del (6) B 26 de abril del (6) C 27 de abril del 2016 La extensión del speech será de dos cuartillas escritas en computadora, letra Arial 12 con interlineado sencillo. Deberá estar ordenado con títulos y subtítulos. La presentación de PowerPoint deberá tener como mínimo 12 diapositivas y un máximo de 15. Cada diapositiva deberá tener un título e imágenes (no textos). Los alumnos podrán enriquecer su trabajo utilizando posters, rotafolios, maquetas, comida, etc. Se les hará llegar un finiquito con la fecha y hora de la presentación de sus hijos.

The importance of Physical Education in Schools. * Topics may be repeated among students three times at the most.

4 Carta a los padres: Queridos padres y tutores de familia: Por medio de la presente carta, queremos compartirles los objetivos pedagógicos que tendrán los speeches este año. Con la finalidad de preparar a nuestros alumnos para la vida, es importante darles las mejores herramientas para que sepan enfrentarse a diferentes métodos de trabajo. Uno de ellos es el método de investigación. Queremos brindarles la oportunidad a los alumnos de desarrollar habilidades de investigación que les permitan seleccionar información, interpretarla y exponerla en un speech formal. Para lograr esto, se trabajará con ellos de manera cercana. Los alumnos tendrán la responsabilidad de encontrar información relevante relacionada con el tema elegido y la traerán a clase. Se trabajará con diferentes técnicas de recolección de información, parafraseo y redacción de speeches, al igual que con el diseño de una presentación de PowerPoint formal. Los alumnos escribirán y realizarán el speech por su cuenta durante horarios escolares. Este primer borrador será revisado cuantas veces sean necesarias para que el trabajo final cumpla con los requisitos planteados. La presentación se realizará en casa una vez que el alumno cuente con la información revisada. Siendo éste un trabajo de investigación, uno de los objetivos que perseguimos es que no sea un trabajo de memoria sino de comprensión y uso del idioma inglés ya adquirido. Los estudiantes expondrán el trabajo a través de explicaciones, demostrando su comprensión del tema y el manejo logrado de la información, presentándola ante padres de familia, compañeros y panel de maestros.
