2 Introduction letter DEAR PARENT, Your child will be learning about the benefits of breakfast and daily physical activity in class. These fun and exciting lessons are part of Think Breakfast!, an important nutrition, health, and educational initiative for schools. As we all heard, eating the right kind of food for breakfast can help children have more energy and attention in and outside the classroom. Parents play an important role in helping children develop healthy eating habits, especially in the morning. It has been shown that eating together can increase the likelihood of children eating breakfast. As role models, it is important parents set a positive example. A nutritious breakfast at home can provide your child with the healthy fuel needed to do well in school and in other activities. Also, many schools have a variety of breakfast options to help fuel your child for the day. We encourage you to remind your child to eat breakfast each day, either at school or at home. Thank you for supporting this important initiative. 5 Breakfast sort BREAKFAST PARFAIT (4 SERVINGS) 2 cups pineapple, fresh or canned 1 cup berries (your choice), fresh or frozen (thawed) 2 cups low-fat/fat-free vanilla yogurt 1 banana (peeled and sliced) 1/4 cup raisins 1 handful granola INSTRUCTIONS 1. In cups or bowls, layer pineapple, berries, yogurt (1/2 cup each serving), banana, raisins and granola.
