Presently there are openings for Catholic volunteers in our ministry at Perryville State Prison for Women. Visiting inmates in prison is a CORPORAL WORK OF MERCY. VINCENT DE PAUL On September 9, the Church celebrates the feast of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Frederic heard the call of Jesus to love and serve those who are suffering, and in the poor he found the face of Christ. He followed the example of St.Vincent de Paul. Today is the 5th Sunday of the month and the collection will be for the work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Through your gifts we are able to carry on the mission of Blessed Frederic Ozanam by providing poor families with food boxes, and also with electrical assistance in order to keep their air conditioners on during these very hot months. Look for vincentians with the blue buckets at the exits of all the doors of the Church. We will definitely be smiling as you place your alms in our containers.
