FORMATIVE VOCABULARY Given a picture of an article of clothing with the price, write the name of the clothing in Spanish and give the dollar amount (numerical). Choose the correct vocabulary word to complete a conversation. Based on the clothing described, write the type of store in which it would be found. GRAMMAR CUMMULATIVE Culture Use the preterit tense in context. Use the demonstrative adjective correctly in context. Use direct object pronouns in place of articles of clothing. Answer the questions about traditional native clothing of various Spanishspeaking countries. Answer questions about shopping in Latin American countries. Listening Reading Listen to what different people in a clothing store are planning to purchase and choose the picture that matches the item ordered along with the prices. Listen to a paragraph of a girl telling her mother about her school shopping experiences and answer questions/complete statements based on what was said. Read sale advertisements for two stores and select the store that contains the best response to the statements in Spanish. Read statements and match the correct response to each statement in Spanish. Writing Speaking Write a letter to a clothing store manager to explain the excellent/horrible shopping experience that you had at their store. Include when you were there, who helped you, a description of the clothing you tried on, the prices etc. Students will speak in front of a live audience while presenting a fashion show.

Objetos Directos - A direct object tells who or what receives the action of the verb. - To avoid repeating a noun, you can replace it with a direct object pronoun (DOP). - DOP mean it or them Singular Plural Lo It (masculine) Los Them (masculine) La It (feminine) Las Them (feminine) Place the DOP immediately before conjugated verb. Cuándo compraste la falda? - La compé ayer. When making the statement negative notice the placement of the DOP is still immediately before the conjugated verb. Tienes mi suéter? - No, no lo tengo. Presente Progresivo The present progressive is used when a speaker would like to emphasize an action in progress. It is formed by using the verb Estar and the present participle. Estar + Participle estoy estás está estamos estáis están + ANDO IENDO (AR verbs) (ER/IR verbs) I am eating. You are talking. We are living. Estoy comiendo. Estás hablando. Estamos viviendo.
Pretérito In Spanish there two different ways to speak in the past tense, we will concentrate on the preterit tense. The preterit generally translates to ed. I walked to school yesterday. Notice the method is the same to conjugate present tense verbs as in the preterit; you only need to change the endings.
