CONCEPTUALIZACION: FUTURE 1 FORM: Look at these sentences: I am going to buy some new shoes tomorrow He is going to be rich one day Are they going to pass the exam? We form this future tense with the verb to be ( am, is, are ) + going to + verb POSITIVE:

We use a long form I am going to eat You / We / They are going to eat He / She / It is going to eat Or a short form I m going to eat You re / we re / they re going to eat He s / she s / it s going to eat He s going to win You are going to study hard this year. NEGATIVE: We make the verb to be negative, and then add going to + verb I am not going to eat You / We / They are not going to eat He / She / It is not going to eat There are two short forms: I m not going to eat You re / we re / they re not going to eat He s / she s / it s not going to eat Or He / she / it You / we / they isn t going to eat aren t going to eat NOTE: There is only one short form for first person singular I. We say: I m not going to eat QUESTIONS:

To make a question, we put the verb to be before the subject. Am I going to eat? Is He / she / it going to eat? Are You / we / they going to eat? When we talk about more than one thing in the future, it is not necessary to repeat be going to. I m going to have a shower and go to bed She s to wake up early and run in the park Look at these sentences. An orange is sweeter than a potato. A train is faster than a bus. USE: We use be +going to + verb, to talk about 1. Our plans for the future I m going to be a doctor They re going to buy a new house next year 2. What is going to happen soon It s very cold today. I think it s going to snow. I m hungry. I m going to eat some biscuits Note: We don t often use going to go or going to come.instead we use the present continuous of go or come. I m going to Paris next week He s coming to see me on Tuesday. FUTURE 2 FORM Look at these sentences I ll see you next week The sun will rise at 6.30 tomorrow Will the train arrive at 3.30 or 4.00 o clock? These verbs are in the future simple. POSITIVE: We use subject + will ( ll) + verb will have dinner tonight

They will take an exam next month I ll call you tomorrow NEGATIVE: We use subject + will not + verb will not have dinner tonight won t have dinner tonight $ 30.oo for a pizza! We will not go to that restaurant again! I won t go to work today. I ll stay in bed and sleep QUESTIONS We use will + subject + verb? Will he / she / it / we / you / they have dinner tonight? Will you buy a new computer next year? USE 1. We use the future simple with will to talk about a. things we know will happen in the future It s my birthday tomorrow. I ll be 22 years old b. things we think will happen in the future I ll be famous one day! Notes: We normally use ll in conversations. We normally use the short form won t in conversation and in writing We can use shall for statements ( I shall be there tomorrow ) but we normally use will. We use shall to make an offer. And we only use shall with I and We. EXERCISES It s really important that you do the exercises in a responsible way in order to improve your knowledge. 1.
