2 Pastor s Corner Reflexiones de tu Párroco The word proclaimed in the second Sunday of Lent begins with the call to Abraham, first known as Abram, and culminates in the Transfiguration of Jesus, the expression of his highest vocation as redeemer of the world. In his letter to Timothy, Saint Paul assures us that human suffering, like Christ s sufferings, have meaning that shine brightly in immortality. On this second Sunday of Lent, the liturgy presents us the goal of our Lenten journey. We walk together with Jesus from the shadows toward the light, from sin to holiness, from death to life, from the cross to the empty tomb. Liturgical coordinators and pastoral musicians must express these themes in various ways during the different Sundays of the season, reflecting upon the biblical texts provided by the Church in the Lectionary. It is imperative for our readers to prepare their readings well so that the community can best embrace the context of God s word for spiritual renewal. ******************************************* La Palabra proclamada de este segundo domingo comienza con la vocación de Abraham, conocido primero como Abram, y culmina con la glorificación de Jesús en el Monte Tabor, la expresión de su máxima vocación como Redentor del mundo. En la carta a Timoteo, san Pablo asegura que los sufrimientos de la vida humana tienen su fin, como los de Cristo, en esa luz que brilla para siempre en la inmortalidad. Ya comenzada la Cuaresma, la liturgia nos presenta desde este segundo domingo la meta de nuestra jornada. Caminamos juntos con Jesús de las sombras a la luz, del pecado a la santidad, de la muerte a la vida, de la Cruz a la tumba vacía. Los coordinadores de la liturgia y de la música pastoral han de expresar este tema de varias maneras durante estos domingos de Cuaresma, reflexionando sobre los textos bíblicos propuestos por la Iglesia en el Leccionario dominical. Conviene que los lectores se preparen bien para que sus lecturas comuniquen la Palabra claramente a una comunidad que necesita del contenido de estos textos para su renovación espiritual. 4 Segundo Domingo de Cuaresma La solicitud Anual para la ayuda a la Iglesia en América Latina será durante la segunda colecta HOY. Su ofrenda ayuda a compartir la fe proporcionando entrenamiento a dirigentes laicos, catequesis, formación de vocaciones sacerdotales y religiosas, además de otros programas. Vivienda Asequible, La violencia con Armas, Disciplina Escolar: Únase a nuestro Ministerio de Justicia la Asamblea Nehemías en Acción, el lunes 27 de marzo en la Iglesia Católica St. James, localizada en NW 7 Ave., Miami. Programa durante la Cuaresma y Pascua de Resurrección: El Vía Crucis será todos los viernes durante la Cuaresma a las 6pm en inglés, en español a las 7pm y a las 8pm en portugués. Regulaciones durante la Cuaresma: Todos los fieles mayores de 14 años de edad, deberán guardar abstinencia de carne todos los Viernes de Cuaresma. El Viernes Santo es día de ayuno ( una comida fuerte al día, con dos comidas ligeras el resto del día, no bocadillos entre comidas), para los fieles de 18 a 60 años de edad. 7 GENERAL INFORMATION SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Ceremonies are performed in English and Spanish. Please call the Parish Office for requirements and registration. BAPTISM CLASSES Are available both in English and Spanish: Please register in the parish office, there is a $15.00 fee if the baptism is not taking place here. CLASES DE BAUTISMO Disponibles en inglés y español: Si el bautismo no se celebrará en nuestra parroquia, se requiere un pago de $ SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE We follow the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Miami. Please call the Parish Office at least six months in advance. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES are available for children from first grade through high school age, and for Adults in English and Spanish, from September through May. Sundays 11:20am & Mondays 3:15pm. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION The necessary requirements to receive a Letter of Recommendation is to be a registered and practicing member of our parish. CARE OF THE SICK Please call the Parish Office to request Communion for patients at home and in the local nursing home, we have Eucharistic Ministers that visit the sick of the parish every week. After Office Hours: Please leave a message on the extension number of our Pastor, Rev. Juan J. Sosa. Deacon Roberto Pineda visits the patients at Mount Sinai hospital every Thursday morning. Also, St. Patrick s Church has lay ministers who bring Communion to the sick in Mount Sinai. If you or someone you know is hospitalized and would like to receive Communion, please inform the hospital of your Catholic affiliation.
