2 Español 3: Ven Conmigo Charla, Examen final Situación: You and a friend meet up at school during lunch and are talking about the latest news in the office (student B is an office aide and tends to hear a lot of rumors that float around there). Follow the conversation format below to expresss surprise, doubt, certainty, possibility and impossibility about the news. Student A 1. Greet student B and ask how s/he is doing. Do not use hola! 3. Answer Student B s question. Ask if there is news in the office. 5. Respond with surprise (p. 234). Ask student B if s/he is sure by using an expression of certainty (p. 227). Student B 2. Respond to student A and ask how s/he is doing. 4. Respond affirmatively and tell student A something that you heard (p. 135). 6. Tell student A that you are sure using an expression of certainty (p. 227). Do not use same expression as student A did! 7. Disagree with student B by using an expression of doubt with the subjunctive (p. 225) Explain why. 8. Change your mind by saying that it s possible student A is right (p. 232). Explain why. 9. Agree with student B (p. 133). 10. State that you hope it s not true (p. 141). 11. Tell student B you ll see him or her in class. 12. Say goodbye. Do not use adiós! You need to be familiar with both roles, as you will not know which role you will play until the day of the charla. Neither will you know who will play the other part. I will provide you with this exact paper as a guide to follow on charla day. You can best prepare by looking at the Así se dice sections in Chapters 5 and 8 (pages are noted above for you), as most of the dialogue revolves around those expressions. Know how to ask your questions and be prepared to respond to your partner s inquiries. Make sure you have some alternate questions and replies to use depending on what the other student says. Try to make it as natural a conversation as possible. Remember to use the familiar form (tú) when talking to another student. En la carta, expresa tus emociones sobre la visita con vocabulario apropiado y subjuntivo donde sea necesario. Escribe en un formato apropiado y con un mínimo de cinco oraciones. 7 p. 198 The present perfect subjunctive Formed with the subjunctive of haber + past participle, this verb form is used to express an emotion about or hope that something has already happened (if there is no trigger for the subjunctive, use the indicative present perfect see p. 72 to review).
