And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. MT 6:3-4 In this season of Lent, let us be reminded of how Jesus sacrificed for us and think about how we can sacrifice for others. As of February 14, 2018, we have a total of $2, 939,126 which enables us to begin Phase 2. Our Father in heaven will repay those who have prayed, pledged, donated and worked to make this possible. Your prayers, alms, and fasting for the sake of the GIFT campaign during this season will be greatly appreciated as we recommit ourselves to raising the remaining 52% of the $6,100,000 needed to fully complete our renovations. If you are looking for a way to sacrifice, now is a good time to provide financial support. Our goal is to raise $250,000 during Lent. Please help. 5 7000 Morning Star Dr., The Colony, TX * Office: * Fax : * Dear Parishioners, Last November after the mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs Texas, Bishop Olson sent a memorandum to all parishes to examine their safety and procedures. At Bishop s direction, Holy Cross Parish has worked on improved security at our facilities by partnering with local law enforcement. The first phase of this process was to conduct a security site survey to review our shortcomings and make improvements to the facilities to help reduce the chances of becoming a victim of future crime. To date, several noted areas of weakness have been addressed and additional improvements are currently under consideration as we expand our church campus. Our second phase of this initiative is to help protect our parishioners in the unlikely event that Holy Cross is ever targeted by an active shooter. Although preplanning for such an event will not guarantee the safety of everyone, our goal is protect as many as humanly possible. Therefore to better protect us, our parish has teamed up again with local law enforcement. The Colony Police Department, has offered to give us a presentation dealing with active shooter incidents. To better streamline this presentation, it was determined to limit this presentation to the following: Ushers, Sacristans and all parish staff members. Expanding future presentations to others in the parish will be determined after this initial training. As member of one the above listed groups, I am asking each of you to attend this important presentation to help keep us safe at Holy Cross. This presentation is scheduled for Friday April 13th at 7:00 pm. The material in this presentation is not designed for children, so children do not attend. WHERE DOES THE WORD EASTER COME FROM? A. Pascha is a Greek word which translates the Hebrew word for Passover. Many Eastern Christians use it to refer to Easter. It may have two meanings. First, it may refer to passage the passage of the Hebrews fleeing Egypt and the passage of Christ from death to life. Secondly, it has been interpreted as passion in the sense of Christ s suffering. Both meanings are alluded to in the liturgical texts (Solarksi, Dennis, Liturgical Literacy, 162). The word Easter may have originally derived from a mythological goddess of fertility. Early Christians often Christianized pagan observances. In the new Roman Missal, you will see titles that reflect the European custom of calling the day Resurrection Sunday, though Easter is certainly still used. Q. THE WORD TRIDUUM MEANS THREE DAYS. WHAT ARE THE THREE DAYS OF THE TRIDUUM? A. The three days of the Sacred Triduum are Sunday, Saturday, and Friday. This seventy-two hour period is the most important celebration of our entire liturgical calendar; it begins on Holy Thursday evening and concludes with Vespers (Evening Prayer) on Easter Sunday, The Sacred Triduum is actually ONE liturgy over three days. We may go home and come back again, but we do not actually begin and end our daily celebrations. LAS PREGUNTAS MAS FRECUENTES.- P.- De donde salió la palabra pascua?
