13 WHY MUST WE PAY TO ATTEND? There are many Conventions held around the world. One of the most common misconceptions is that they are AA meetings, and since There are no dues or fees for AA membership there should be no fees to attend. Conventions are special events, not regular meetings. They require months of planning, preparation and financial obligations. The Convention is self-supporting and our costs are paid through registration fees. The ideal for any committee is to break even; therefore, our registration fee is nominal. POR QUÉ DEBEMOS PAGAR POR ATENDER? Hay muchas convenciones llevadas a cabo en todo el mundo. 14 ANONYMITY STATEMENT: There may be some here who are not familiar with our Tradition of personal anonymity at the public level. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion. We need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films. The assurance of anonymity is essential in our efforts to help other problem drinkers who may wish to share our recovery program with us. Our tradition of anonymity reminds that AA principles come before personalities. Thus, we respectfully ask that AA speakers and AA members not be photographed, videotaped, or identified by full name on audio tapes and in published or broadcast reports of our meetings, including reports on the internet. Out of respect for others, please do not take photographs during any of the meetings at our convention. This includes not capturing images of AA members, family members and friends who do not give permission and may not wish to appear in your pictures. Please do not post recognizable photos of identifiable AA members on web sites accessible to the public including unrestricted pages on social networking sites.
