2 What Is SHARE? SHARE is a nationwide community that offers support and information to women diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancers and their caregivers. All of our services are free of charge and are provided by people who have faced these diseases and have been specially trained to offer support. Our educational programs and webinars are presented by physicians, researchers, and practitioners specializing in breast and ovarian cancer care. 5 SUPPORT GROUPS: SPECIAL TOPICS These groups address breast cancer-related concerns. Women may join at any time. DCIS Support Group Often there are conflicting interpretations of the risk presented by a diagnosis of DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). There are differing opinions about appropriate treatment. The emotional issues generated by a diagnosis of DCIS will be addressed at this peer-led support group. Mondays, 6:00-7:30pm May 4 Jun 1 July 6 Aug 3 Breast Reconstruction This program is for women who are considering, are starting, or have completed any type of reconstruction and want to share information and experiences. Wednesday, 6:00-7:30pm June 3 Aug 5 Coping with Aromatase Inhibitors and Tamoxifen This support group is for women who are currently taking or considering taking aromatase inhibitors or tamoxifen. Ethnic Disparities in Ovarian Cancer Disparities in gynecologic cancer incidence and mortality exist among American women based on ethnicity. Dr. Holcomb, Associate Attending Obstetrician and Gynecologist, NY Presbyterian Hospital, Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, Weill Cornell Medical College, will outline these disparities with regard to ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers, explore possible causes, and discuss potential solutions. Dizon will present news from the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) as it relates to those living with metastatic breast cancer. Topics will include different treatment modalities as well as studies presented at ASCO Dr. Dizon is board certified in medical oncology and is the Clinical Co-Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. He is also an Associate Professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. This webinar is in collaboration with the Metastatic Breast Cancer Network.
