The problems encountered within this field by tertiary teachers can be summarized in the followings: 1. Writings have to be clear. 2. CURSO 4 Small group teaching: seminars in English Antonio Ruiz Teaching small classes is frequently considered as the optimal university- level experience, when faculty feel they have the time to dedicate significant attention to each student, and students feel they have adequate access to the instructor. Classroom instruction is more likely to be discussion- based, with more time given over to students. However, classroom management in our University (UCO) with limited English proficiency students poses a significant and unique challenge for us. This seven- day workshop will provide instructors with the tools, frameworks and skills to tackle this issue especially in the case of: 1) debates, 2) student presentations; 3) evaluation seminars and 4) Lab- sessions. Staff enrolled in this workshop will also be able to attend real seminars in the International Business Master of the University of Córdoba to witness 'in situ' how these seminars are actually carried out in a real scenario. 19, 22, 26 y 29 de enero y 2, 5 y 12 de febrero 17:00-20:00 (martes) y 10:00-13:00 (viernes)

CURSO 6 Improving oral skills in university lessons: techniques and strategies to use pronunciation effectively Víctor Pavón The necessity to express concepts and ideas orally in university lectures is one of the biggest challenges for non- native teachers. The difficulties of English pronunciation may affect dramatically the understanding of content. In addition, they may also exert a negative influence in the confidence of teachers who use English as a vehicle of instruction in their classes. Following this, it is essential that teachers learn to identify the aspects associated to the pronunciation of English that are more directly related to the expression of messages and with the notion of intelligibility. In this course, we will pay attention to the use of pronunciation from a global and meaningful way. The aim will be to provide teachers with practical tools to consolidate or improve their capacity to express themselves orally, paying attention to the aspects responsible to make students get access to complex information transmitted orally in a smooth and effective way. 14, 17, 28, 31 de marzo y 4, 7 y 8 de abril. 17:00-20:00
