The Personal a is used when the direct object (the person/thing RECEIVING the action of the verb) is a person or cherished animal. Essentially, if you see a verb followed by a person or pet, stick an A in between them: verb + a + person/pet. Translate the following sentences to Spanish 1. Sometimes I help my brother with his homework. A veces (yo) ayudo a mi hermano con su tarea. 2. Emilia waits for her friend often. Emilia espera a su amigo mucho. 3. B. To conjugate or Not to Conjugate? For each sentence, put an I if the verb needs to be left in the infinitive form. Put a C if the verb should be conjugated. Then translate the sentence. I_ 1. C. Possessive Adjectives (my, your, his/her, our, their) Compete the Tabla with the correct possessive adjectives. Remember: ADJECTIVES MUST ALWAYS AGREE WITH THE NOUNS THAT THEY MODIFY!! F. Completing sentences. The words it and they (for inanimate objects) do not exist in Spanish. Instead of using a subject pronoun, start the sentence with the appropriate verb. BE CAREFUL: since the worde for they does exist when talking about people, you need to make sure to distinguish what you are talking about before writing the sentence. Ex: They are red shirts. = Son camisas rojas. They are good students. = Ellos son buenos estudiantes. Translate the following sentences. 1. It is Susana s pencil. Es el lápiz de Susana. 2. They are Carla s books. Son los libros de Carla. 3. They are good men. Ellos son buenos hombres. 4. It is Juan s. Es de Juan. 5. It is Miguel s pen. Es la pluma/el esfero de Miguel. 6.
