1 : KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT INFORMATION Four Different Kindergarten Options in Adams 12: 1. Extended Day Kindergarten Program: The priority application window for the tuition based, extended day kindergarten program (EDKP) begins January 25 th and runs through February 5 th. Admissions to extended day kindergarten programs are managed by each school individually and are not managed by the Choice Program. You can apply directly to whichever school you are interested in attending. If you are not placed in your desired school s program but would still like an extended day program, the district will make every effort to place you in the school nearest to your residence. Out of boundary or out of district families that would like to attend an extended day kindergarten program may apply at any participating elementary school. Placement into an extended day kindergarten program will be dependent on space availability. Students will be placed following a five tiered priority with the first priority going to boundary students, second priority to in district students with siblings at the requested school, third priority to out ofdistrict students with siblings at the school, fourth priority to in district students who do not have siblings at the requested school and a fifth priority to out of district students who do not have siblings at the requested school. After February 5 th enrollment for the extended day kindergarten program can still be taken at any school until the program is full. The school options at that time will be dependent on the space available. The following schools may be offering tuition based, extended day kindergarten if there is enough interest to fill a classroom: Arapahoe Ridge Elementary: Mountain View Elementary: Cherry Drive Elementary: Prairie Hills Elementary: Cotton Creek Elementary: Riverdale Elementary: Coyote Ridge Elementary: Silver Creek Elementary: Eagleview Elementary: Skyview Elementary: Glacier Peak Elementary: Stellar Elementary: Hunters Glen Elementary: Tarver Elementary: Meridian Elementary: Westview Elementary: Tuition for each extended day kindergarten program throughout Adams 12 Five Star Schools is $300 per month. A $50 enrollment fee is due upon acceptance into the program by February 19 th and the balance of $250 will be due by March 11 th. This $300 will be applied toward the May 2017 tuition payment. Any student for whom an enrollment fee has not been deposited by February 19 th may be removed from the extended day class roster and their space given to the next student on the wait list. 2. Kindergarten Program at Magnet Schools: Only tuition based, extended day kindergarten will be offered at Hulstrom, STEM Lab, STEM Launch and The Studio School. Because these schools only offer tuition based, extended day kindergarten, scholarships for students that receive free or reduced lunch will be available. Admissions to kindergarten magnet programs are managed by the Choice Program. 3. Half day Kindergarten: Enrollment for half day kindergarten begins January 25 th and runs through the first day of school in August There is no tuition for these programs. To register at one of these schools, you must either live within the boundary or be approved via the Choice Program to attend the school 4. Full day Programs at Title I Schools: Enrollment for full day kindergarten at Title I schools begins January 25 th and runs through the first day of school in August There is no tuition for these programs. To register at one of these schools, you must either live within the boundary of that school or be approved via the Choice Program to attend the school. For enrollment times at each of the following Title I schools, please contact the school directly: Coronado Hills, Federal Heights, Hillcrest, Malley Drive, McElwain, North Mor, North Star, Rocky Mountain, Stukey and Thornton Elementary.

2 : INFORMACIÓN DE OPCIONES DEL KINDERGARTEN Cuatro Opciones Diferentes para el Kindergarten en el Adams 12: 1. La entrada en un programa de Kindergarten de día extendido dependerá de la disponibilidad de espacio. Los estudiantes serán ubicados siguiendo un orden de prioridad de 5 pasos. Kindergarten de Medio Día: La matrícula para el Kindergarten de medio día comienza el 25 de enero. No hay que pagar cuota por estos programas. La matrícula se hace en cada escuela primaria. Para horarios, comuníquese con la escuela que le corresponde al área donde usted vive. Si usted desea asistir a un programa de medio día en una escuela fuera del área donde usted vive, tiene que usar el Programa de Opción. 4. 3 Schools of Choice Program All students in Five Star Schools are assigned to attend a specific school based upon the geographical attendance area of their residence. However, parents/guardians have other options based on a state law requiring open enrollment in all Colorado school districts when there is space available. If students wish to attend another school, they can apply through the district's Schools of Choice Program, apply for a Family Initiated Transfer (in district students only) or apply for a schools extended day kindergarten program directly with the school. Admissions to half day kindergarten programs, full day (Title I non tuition based) kindergarten programs for nonboundary students and kindergarten programs at magnet schools (Hulstrom Options, STEM Lab, STEM Launch & The Studio School) are managed by the Choice Program. Admissions to extended day kindergarten programs (tuitionbased) are managed directly by each school. There are three Choice windows: 1. Priority consideration window aka First Round from December 1 to January 29 (for the next school year) 2. Second round from January 30 to March 31 (for the next school year) 3. Third round from early August up to September 15 (for the current school year) Families wishing to enroll in Adams 12 Five Star Schools in the next school year should apply for priority consideration during the first round of Choice. There is a second and third round for schools that have space available after the first round has closed. Applications for round 1 & 2 are accepted via the district s online Choice application or via paper applications available at schools or the Educational Support Center. All applications received by the deadline are included in a lottery for available spaces (the process is not first come, first served). Families are notified via US mail no later than the 3rd week of February for the first round and the third week of April for the second round. 4 Programa de Opción (Choice) Todos los estudiantes en Five Star Schools son asignados a asistir a una escuela específica basada en el área de asistencia geográfica de su residencia. 5 Enrolling in Adams 12 Five Star Schools A simple process! NOTE: Kindergarteners must be 5 years old and first graders must be 6 years old on or before October 1st. For exceptions, please see Superintendent Policy Step 1: In district families who wish to attend their boundary school can simply check their address on our boundary locator to determine which school their student will attend. Our locator is online at: In district families who wish to attend a school other than their boundary school can apply for Choice during the specified timelines or directly with schools participating in the extended day kindergarten program. Out of district families who wish to attend an Adams 12 school can only apply for admissions via the Choice program or via extended day kindergarten programs. Applications for extended day kindergarten programs are accepted directly at participating schools. Step 2: Pick up an enrollment packet at one of our school locations or download the forms from our district website ( You will need only one Household Information Packet per family and an individual Student Information Packets for each student. Step 3: Complete your forms and gather the necessary documentation required as explained on Page 2 of the Enrollment Packet. A short list of documentation needed includes: Parent/Guardian Photo ID; Child s Birth Certificate; Two Proofs of Residence; Immunization Records; and prior school records. Please refer to page 2 of the Enrollment Packet for an extensive list of documentation requirements. Step 4: Take your completed enrollment forms and all required documentation to your student s school.
