COMMEMORATION OF THE NEW FEAST OF MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH MONDAY, MAY 21ST - 12:10 MASS CATHEDRAL OF OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS On March 3, 2018, Pope Francis decreed that the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church be inserted into the Roman Calendar on the Monday after Pentecost and to be celebrated every year beginning this year. The decree states: This celebration will help us to remember that growth in the Christian life must be anchored to the Mystery of the Cross, to the oblation of Christ in the Eucharistic Banquet and to the Mother of the Redeemer and Mother of the Redeemed, the Virgin who makes her offering to God. On Pentecost Monday, May 21st, at the 12:10 pm Mass, all are invited to join Archbishop José H. Gomez to commemorate this Feast devoted to our Blessed Mother. Faithful in attendance will also have the opportunity to write prayers of intention for the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, which will be delivered to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City in July as part of the annual Archdiocesan pilgrimage with Archbishop Gomez. POPE S CHOIR ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER U.S. NATIONAL TOUR Serving as the Pope s personal choir, today, the 1500-year old Sistine Chapel Choir is the oldest and most respected active choir in the world today.
