FROM THE OFFICE OF CATHEDRAL RELATIONS Ways to Give: Deferred Gifts There are many types of deferred gifts that can be identified in your estate plan, living trust, etc. The Charitable Lead Trust (CLT) is just one! The advantage to the CLT is that you greatly reduce or avoid possible gift and estate tax on trust assets passing to family....if some trust income goes to charity for a few years. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process for those who are interested in becoming Catholic through the celebration of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. There are no obligations and you are invited to ask questions, become a member of faith sharing community, and prayerfully discover God s calling in your life. Then the charity (e.g. Cathedral) takes the lead and the Trust pays income to the charity. This done during donor s lifetime or for a few years. 3.
