2 ST. PATRICK CHURCH MOUNT DORA, FLORIDA Love Bugs Got You Down? - The weekend of May 31st June 1 st the youth will be washing windows of all the cars during mass. This is a donation-only fundraiser for the youth attending the Alive in You mission trip to Mobile, Alabama. -Movie Night Sunday, June 8 th from 4:00 6:00 p.m. Gimme Shelter, rated PG-13, with Vanessa Hudgens and James Earl Jones. This movie is open to all youth in the parish. St. Mary s HS Youth Group will be joining us. Please bring a snack to share. -Mark your Calendar YVBS is coming! June 28 th from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This VBS is just for the youth of the parish, those attending 6 th through 12 th grade in the fall. Watch for more information to follow. -VBS Helpers We will have a meeting for all youth, 6 th through 12 th grade, who would like to help with Vacation Bible School on Wednesday, June 4 th at 6:00 in the youth room. This is a great opportunity to have some fun with purpose during summer vacation and community service hours. VBS will take place June 16 th through 20 th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. 2nd Annual Youth Grill the Priest Saturday, June 21 st 5:30 7:30 p.m. Fr. Robert, Fr. Because two of the high school seniors, that applied for the Women s Guild Scholarship, were so close in scoring an anonymous donor has matched their donation to allow both of them to receive a $1000 scholarship. Jonathan Scaringella will receive the Women s Guild Scholarship and Nicolas Grayford will receive one from the donor. Next week s second collection is for Religious Education. (John 14:20) Jesus is speaking to us about the Holy Trinity and our oneness with Him, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. If we fully accept that this relationship exists, and if we embrace it to lead Godcentered lives, we are much closer to the ideal of holiness the Lord wants for each of us. Stewardship is a God-centered way to live. One of the challenges of our secular society is that the way of life which we may see daily in all aspects of our experience, certainly on television and in motion pictures, is the opposite of stewardship. Rather than being God-centered it is often self-centered. Through all the readings for this Sixth Sunday of Easter we can sense this call to be one with God. The first reading from Acts reminds each of us that we are filled with the Holy Spirit, just as the Samaritans were. Peter s letter (the second reading) imparts the value of having Christ alive in our hearts. Of course, Jesus Himself, speaking to us through the Gospel of John, assures us that striving to be one with Him means that we have within us an Advocate, the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit. This is the Comforter Who allows us to accomplish much. Sacramental Life of the Parish Baptism: Celebrated on the fourth Sunday of the month. Parents must be registered, active members of the parish for three months prior to the Baptism. Call the Parish Office to make arrangements. Bautismo: (se requiere) 1.
