2 A Message from the Pastor ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! My brothers and sisters, the Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! It was St. Augustine who said that we are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song. How true those words are! At least that s how I feel and I hope you feel the same. It is the excitement of this Easter season that I want to share with you. I have spoken with many parishioners during the Lenten season who were finding life burdensome because of illness, family issues, and a plethora of other problems. To all these I had pointed out how they were truly embracing the Cross. I had likened some to Simon of Cyrene who was forced to carry the cross of Jesus, some I likened to Veronica who dared to reach out to wipe the face of Jesus. And there were others who were burdened by sins. But Easter tells us that the strife is over not only for Jesus but also for us. The battle has been won. The world, the flesh and the devil have been conquered because Jesus has risen from the dead. This is not an event that is located in history but a present reality for us.jesus is risen and we have been raised up with him. Let sorrow and sadness flee away because every stone that kept us locked up in a tomb has been removed. Forever Jesus will continue to take away those stones and together with Lazarus we are being told: Come forth! And as we come out from our tombs we come singing: ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! Aleluya! Aleluya! Mis hermanos y hermanas, el Señor ha resucitado! En verdad ha resucitado! Aleluya! Fue San Agustín quien dijo que somos gente de Pascua y que Aleluya es nuestro canto. Qué tan ciertas son estas palabras! Al menos es como yo me siento y quiero que ustedes se sientan igual. Es la emoción del tiempo de Pascua que quiero compartir con ustedes. He platicado con muchos feligreses durante el tiempo de Cuaresma quienes atravesaban por enfermedades, problemas familiares, y una variedad de problemas en sus vidas. A todos ellos les hice ver que verdaderamente estaban abrazando la cruz. A unos les hice ver que eran como Simón el Cirineo que fue obligado a cargar la cruz de Jesus, a otros les hice ver que eran como Verónica quien se atrevió a limpiar el rostro de Jesus. Y hubo otros que estaban cargando pecados. Pero la Pascua nos dice que el sufrimiento se acaba tanto para Jesus como para nosotros. La batalla ha sido ganada. El mundo, la carne y el diablo ha sido derrotados porque Jesus ha resucitado de entre los muertos. Esto no es un evento en el pasado si no una realidad presente para nosotros. Jesus ha resucitado y hemos resucitado con él. Que las penas y tristezas se alejen porque cada piedra que nos mantenía dentro de la tumba ha sido removida. Por siempre Jesus seguirá quitando esas piedras y junto con Lázaro se nos dirá: "Levántate!" Y al salir de nuestras tumbas cantaremos: "Aleluya, Aleluya, Aleluya!" The whole parish was involved with donations of food and funds for our needy brethren in the area. Many people have commented on the continued generosity of the St. Patrick parish and for that we are truly grateful. If you were unable to return your bag, you can still return it by leaving it in the St. Vincent de Paul donation bin in the Gathering Space at St. Patrick. St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization that provides person-to-person service to the needy and suffering through he distribution of food and limited financial assistance. If anyone is interested in the work that we do to help others in need and would like to learn more, please contact Al Kilts ( ), Dick Knox ( ) or, better yet, stop by the St. Vincent de Paul office at St. Mary of the Lakes, (Monday through Thursday, 10 AM 1 PM).
