Telephone: (209) Clase: Building N205 Tarea para el verano SUMMER ASSIGNMENT ~ DUE DATE FOR THE POSTCARD IS THE 1ST BLOCK PERIOD DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR! Both packets will be due the 1 st day of school. Tarea del verano: Write a postcard in the preterite which will be due the 1 st BLOCK period and complete both packets G.P. & P.W. due the 1st day of school. Asignatura: Direcciones- Vas a escribir una carta postal (Post Card) a tu mejor amigo (a). Vas a describir tus vacaciones del verano. Tienes que dibujar la carta postal, y escribirla por computadora. La carta tiene que ser escrita en formato de carta. Es necesario escribir una introducción y concluir tus pensamientos. También incluye un domicilio (can be a made up address). Cuando firmes tu nombre también escribe tu nombre para poder leerlo. Tienes que incluir 1) A dónde fuiste de vacaciones? 2) Con quién? 3) Qué hiciste? 4) Practicaste deportes? 5) Hiciste algo interesante? 6) Tuviste más tarea para otra clase avanzada? 7) Incluye algo interesante. Es necesario escribir 3 a 4 párrafos. Tu calificación va a hacer basada en: creatividad, gramática y vocabulario, ortografía y acentuación, pronunciación, correcto formato para escribir una carta, y escrito por computadora. Los paquetes están disponibles en el sitio de la escuela o los vas a recibir la noche de A.P. La Profesora Skujins los va a entregar la noche de A.P.
2 Overview of Pre-A.P.: Bienvenidos a español 3 Pre- A.P. Quiero empezar por darte una pequeña descripción de la clase. La mayoría de la instrucción será dada en español. Solamente cuando hay apuntes o una pregunta al final de clase contestaré en inglés. La razón es porque tienes que estar emergido en español para poder comprenderlo a su totalidad. Habrá un examen cada semana de vocabulario o gramática. También habrá proyectos y ensayos durante el año escolar. Ven preparado, va a haber un examen Capítulo Para Empezar la segunda semana de escuela. Suerte! Y espero verte en agosto. Themes: First week of school(review)- Preview (PE) Tu Vida Diaria/ Días especiales First Semester- Realidades 3: Chapters Accomplishments- El pretérito y el imperfecto con verbos regulares e irregulares 2. Artistic and Personal Expression- adjetivos, sustantivos, El pretérito vs. el imperfecto, estar y participio, ser y estar 3. Health and Exercise- Pronombres de C.I. y Directo, Mandatos afirmativos y negativos, el subjuntivo con verbos irregulares y cambio de raíz 4. Interpersonal Relationships- Verbos reflexivos, El subjuntivo con emoción, por vs. para, Mandatos con nosotros, pronombres posesivos Second Semester- Realidades 3: Chapters The World of Work- El participio presente, pronombres reflexivos y de complemento, el presente perfecto, el pluscuamperfecto, el presente perfecto del subjuntivo, los adjetivos y los pronombres posesivos 6. Careers and Professions- Saber vs. Conocer, el futuro, El futuro perfecto, uso de complementos directo e indirectos 7. Archaeology and History- la construcciones negativas, los adjetivos usados como sustantivos, el presente y el presente perfecto del subjuntivo con expresiones de duda, pero y sino, el subjuntivo en cláusulas adjetivas, 8. Cultural Diversity- Las palabras interrogativas, verbos con cambios en el pretérito, el condicional, el imperfecto del subjuntivo Activities & Assignments: Your grade will consist of: Participation, which consists of Speaking ONLY in Spanish during class Class work includes speaking activities, quizlets, verb charts, terminology and grammar sentences, Spanish daily journals, weekly Spanish agendas, Flamingo Vocab Challenge, Verb Conjugation Competitions, annotations using read with a pen, and writing a Spanish Essay every quarter, & AP Practice Tests Prep., Schoology assignments Homework such as terminology flashcards, Workbooks, annotating articles, research Workbooks, G.P, P.W. W.A.V., & Lecturas Hispanas, and additional workbook resources Annotations, creating Spanish article summaries,, Projects Cultural Cook Book Project, Children s Story Book, My Childhood Project, Chapter Video Script Projects, etc. Quizzes: include Cultural, Literature, Verbal, and Weekly Grammar Quizzes. Tests: such as Grammar Unit Tests, and Vocabulary Tests Finals will consist of oral interview component, terminology for the semester & in class Final Essay (Note: Final exams will be cumulative.) Cultural Diversity Class Over View: This course is designed to better prepare you into becoming a proficient Spanish speaker. 90% of the class will consist of speaking ONLY Spanish. The summer assignment consists of: Summer Post Card Project The Summer Post Card, must display comprehension of Spanish 1 & 2 content. You will also submit the Guided Practice & Practice Workbook for the Para Empezar Unit the first week of school. *Note: Not completing the summer assignment may affect your grade drastically because it will be the first major assignment in the gradebook. 4 Finals will consist of oral interview component, terminology for the semester & in class Final Essay (Note: Final exams will be cumulative.) Extra Credit Policy: Extra credit will not be offered. Make-up practices: Make-up tests must be arranged by the students with the instructor before school, after school, or during lunch. Preferably during 5 th period, lunch hour. Homework Practices: (including frequency) Homework is given daily. If classwork is not finished in class, it is always homework. Assignments range from the practice workbooks, the textbook, vocabulary, responses, questions, projects, article summaries or essays. Activities and workbook pages need to be completed. The only activities excused are AUDIO activities from the textbook. Diarios and diarios personales must also be completed when absent. Late work: You are responsible for making up missed work due to excused absences. You will have the number of days allowed per Conduct Code. NO OTHER LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED Attendance: Attendance is essential in order for success when learning a world language. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to get the materials/assignments you missed and complete them on your own time. Tardiness: You are expected to be in your seat when the tardy bell rings. As per the student conduct code, three tardies will result in a note home; four or more tardies will result in a referral and detention either during lunch or after school. After 5 tardies, you will receive a U in citizenship for the quarter. Citizenship Grade: Outstanding Citizenship: No more than one tardy, no discipline referrals, positive contribution to class activities, excellent conduct and attitude in class. Satisfactory Citizenship: No more than four tardies, no discipline referrals, most assignments completed and turned in on time, positive contribution to class activities, good conduct and attitude in class. Unsatisfactory Citizenship: Five or more tardies, discipline referrals, many incomplete or missing assignments, few positive contributions to class activities, or poor conduct and attitude in class. A referral is NOT necessary to receive an unsatisfactory citizenship grade. School materials: You need to come prepared with your school materials every day. This includes, but is not limited to, a pen or pencil, paper, notebook,diarios, your textbook and workbooks. Textbooks and workbooks will be used every day. If you do not bring your materials to class 5 days or more, you will receive a U in citizenship for the quarter. Classroom rules: 1. Be on time. Use class time to complete the assigned work. 2. Be prepared and be in your seat when the class bell rings. 3. Participate and ask questions. 4. Be respectful of others. Put downs, bad language, rudeness and destructive behavior will not be tolerated. 5. No cell phones. If a phone is out during an assessment, you will receive a zero on the test. 6. No gum, food, or drinks. (Except for water) 7. Be honest and do not cheat. Plagiarism is not accepted. Honesty is the best policy. 8. Be organized. *Breaking these rules may result in warning, detention or referral. I look forward to teaching you Spanish this school year.
