1 By the end of the unit, you will be able to: Español I Unidad II 1. Discuss and identify different locations in the school. 2. Describe your classes, teachers and schedule. 3. Exchange information about someone else s schedule. 4. Compare and contrast telling time in English and Spanish. 5. Distinguish definite & indefinite articles. 6. Conjugate AR verbs in the present tense using charts and using context. 7. Conjugate the verbs estar y tener. 8. Compare your school experience with that of a Spanish-speaking country: include dress, grades, homework and after-school activities. FORMATIVE VOCABULARY Given a word/phrase in English or a Picture, write the correct word/phrase in Spanish. GRAMMAR Conjugate the irregular verb estar and tener use it in written context. Identify definite and indefinite articles. SUMMATIVE Culture Conjugate a regular ar verb and use it in written context. Describe some of the differences between the school systems in the United States and Hispanic countries. Listening Listen to descriptions of locations in the school and write that location in Spanish beside the corresponding number. Listen to changes in class schedules. Chose the time that you hear and write the number of the classroom. Reading Read a letter in Spanish and answer the questions that follow in English. Read a student s schedule and match the statements that follow with the information on the schedule. Writing Speaking You have a problem with a class or your schedule and need advice. You write a letter to your school newspaper s advice columnist, Querida Pepita. In your letter, explain the problem and give at least three examples (seven sentences). In groups of 2-3, write and present a skit. You are talking to some friends that you have not seen all summer on the first day of school. Compare your schedules and talk about the need for those classes. Each person must speak at least seven times.
