Those who have been abused seldom just get over it. The sense of violation goes deep into a person s psyche and feelings of anger, shame, hurt and betrayal can build long after the abuse has taken place. Some have even described the feeling as if it has scarred their soul. Those who have been abused can heal, but it often takes time, therapy, and the support of loved ones. As a Church, we can help support those who have been abused by keeping them in prayer and providing opportunties for healing. Protecting God s Children Awareness class is mandatory for any adult who volunteers at St. Michael Catholic Church and School. The date and time of our next class will be announced soon! If we accept the challenge of putting God first in our time and treasure, our attitudes, priorities and spiritual lives will definitely change.

9 Aquí hay un muchacho que tiene cinco panes y dos peces Juan 6, 1-15 Oración introductoria La multiplicación de los panes me recuerda que la abundancia es una característica del auténtico amor. Señor, creo en ti y te amo, por eso, con toda confianza, te pido que me permitas escucharte en esta oración para conocer cuál es el camino que debo seguir para que mi amor, a Ti y a los demás, sea ilimitado. Petición Jesús, ayúdame a que mi amor sea incondicional, auténtico, abundante. Meditación del Papa Francisco El que ama conoce a Dios; el que no ama, no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor. Pero no amor de telenovela. No, no! Amor sólido, fuerte; amor eterno, amor que se manifiesta en su Hijo, que ha venido para salvarnos. Amor concreto; amor de obras y no de palabras. Para conocer a Dios hace falta toda una vida; un camino, un camino de amor, de conocimiento, de amor al prójimo, de amor a los que nos odian, de amor por todos. [ ] El Señor tuvo compasión de la cantidad de gente que había ido a escucharlo, porque eran ovejas sin pastor, desorientadas. Y hoy mucha gente está desorientada en nuestras ciudades, en nuestros países. Por eso, Jesús les enseña la doctrina y la gente le escucha. Cuando luego se hace tarde y pide que les den de comer, sin embargo, los discípulos responden un poco nerviosos. Una vez más Dios ha llegado primero, los discípulos no habían entendido nada: Así es el amor de Dios: siempre nos espera, siempre nos sorprende. Es el Padre, es nuestro Padre que nos ama tanto, que siempre está dispuesto a perdonarnos. Siempre! No una vez, 70 veces 7. Siempre! Como un padre lleno de amor y para conocer a este Dios, que es amor, debemos subir por el escalón del amor al prójimo, por las obras de caridad, por las obras de misericordia, que el Señor nos ha enseñado. Que el Señor, en estos días en que la Iglesia nos hace pensar en la manifestación de Dios, nos dé la gracia de conocerle por el camino del amor. La multitud se conmueve por el prodigio de la multiplicación de los panes, pero el don que Jesús ofrece es plenitud de vida para el hombre hambriento. Jesús sacia no solo el hambre material, sino esa más profunda, el hambre del sentido de la vida, el hambre de Dios. Frente al sufrimiento, la soledad, la pobreza y las dificultades de tanta gente, qué podemos hacer nosotros? Reflexión Entre los personajes que intervienen en la escena evangélica, además del Maestro, los apóstoles y la multitud, el muchacho de los panes y los peces pasa muy desapercibido en el relato. Apenas se menciona, pero su presencia y generosidad fueron claves para que Jesús obrara el milagro. Todos los milagros de Jesús requirieron de la fe de quienes los pedían. Éste, además, requirió de la generosidad de aquel muchacho. Como si quisiera decirnos con ello el evangelista, que para obtener el milagro de la propia conversión o del propio progreso espiritual y humano, siempre se requiere generosidad. Darlo todo, y darlo de corazón. Igualmente, cuando se trata de la ayuda a los demás, muchas veces tenemos en nuestras cestas los cinco panes y dos peces que necesita nuestro prójimo. A veces es una limosna, a veces es ceder el paso en la calle o una simple sonrisa que devuelva la confianza a nuestros hijos o compañeros de trabajo, después de que hemos sufrido algún percance. Los cinco panes son, sin duda, una representación de los talentos que Dios nos ha regalado. Sólo en la medida en que los demos a los demás, fructifican y rinden todo cuanto pueden. Si los guardamos para nosotros mismos, pueden echarse a perder. Hay que recordar que el milagro comienza cuando aquel muchacho cedió al Maestro sus panes, para que diera de comer a toda una multitud... Propósito En mi siguiente encuentro con Cristo en la Eucaristía, pedirle que abra mi corazón a la compasión hacia el prójimo y al compartir fraterno. Diálogo con Cristo Jesús, ayúdame a saber multiplicar mi amor. Para que el milagro se produzca necesito simplemente ofrecerte lo que tengo, nada más pero tampoco nada menos. Tú multiplicarás estos pocos o muchos dones para el bien de todos. Con humildad y sencillez te ofrezco mis talentos, consciente de que los he recibido para darlos a los demás. De hecho, cuando Felipe le señala, bien hubiera podido decir: "Aquí hay un muchacho que tiene cinco panes de cebada y dos peces; pero no sé si quiera entregarlos y, de cualquier modo, qué es eso para tantos?"
