Sunday, January 28 Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas St. Michael s is pleased to offer enrollment in The Angelic Warfare Confraternity on the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, a Dominican Priest and Doctor of the Church. Fr. Buettner will enroll new members at 9AM. Those who have previously enrolled are invited to attend and make their re-commitment. *Lay Dominicans will have a sign-up table in the Narthex after the Sunday Masses on January 14th and 21st. Epiphany House Blessing bags with Blessed Chalk and Holy Water are available in the Narthex to use for your family s annual house blessing. On the Feast of the Epiphany the family gathers to ask God s blessing on their home and on all who live there or who visit. It is an invitation for Jesus to be a daily guest in our home, our comings and goings, our conversations, our work and play, our joys and sorrows.

9 Vimos su estrella en el Oriente y venimos a adorarle has visto la estrella que acaba de nacer? Al menos yo me sentiría confuso, dado que no soy un astrónomo, además las noches las ocupo en otras cosas que en estar mirando el cielo. Oración introductoria Jesús, vengo a este rato de meditación para contemplarte y adorarte, como aquellos magos de Oriente. Ayúdame a encontrarte, como ellos lo hicieron, en los brazos de María. Petición Jesús, dame la gracia de buscarte siempre. Que seas Tú la causa de todas mis alegrías. Meditación del Papa Francisco Los Magos consiguieron superar aquel momento crítico de oscuridad en el palacio de Herodes, porque creyeron en las Escrituras, en la palabra de los profetas que señalaba Belén como el lugar donde había de nacer el Mesías. Así escaparon al letargo de la noche del mundo, reemprendieron su camino y de pronto vieron nuevamente la estrella, y el Evangelio dice que se llenaron de inmensa alegría. Esa estrella que no se veía en la oscuridad de la mundanidad de aquel palacio. Un aspecto de la luz que nos guía en el camino de la fe es también la santa astucia. Es también una virtud, la santa astucia. Se trata de esa sagacidad espiritual que nos permite reconocer los peligros y evitarlos. Los Magos supieron usar esta luz de astucia cuando, de regreso a su tierra, decidieron no pasar por el palacio tenebroso de Herodes, sino marchar por otro camino. Reflexión Hoy es uno de esos días en que todos quisiéramos de nuevo ser niños. Qué alegría y qué ilusión al habernos ido a la cama pensando: "Esta noche pasarán por casa los Magos de Oriente y dejarán en ella muchos regalos para mí" El ejemplo de estos "magos" (en la actualidad equivaldrían a una especie de astrónomos y no a aquellos que aparecen y desaparecen un conejo de su sombrero) es un ejemplo de fe y de sencillez. Su vida estaba resuelta. Eran felices. Tenían una familia maravillosa. Para qué despeinarse? Vaya ganas de complicarse la vida! Y sin embargo, ven la estrella y no tardan en seguirla. Tenían fe y supieron descubrir en el brillo de esa estrella diminuta, que a ratos se les escabullía, el paso de Dios por sus vidas. Y es que, hace falta tener los oídos interiores bien limpios para escuchar la voz de Dios. El rey Herodes, a través de estos magos, recibió también una invitación de Dios para sumarse a los que adorarían al Niño. Pero la basura del egoísmo y el ruido del poder acumulado en sus oídos, no le permitieron escuchar. Se quedó en su palacio y se ensució el alma con la muerte de tantos inocentes. La sencillez de los magos, se nos presenta unida a su fe, en el momento del encuentro con el Niño: Y de hinojos le adoraron, abriendo sus cofres, le ofrecieron como dones de oro, incienso y mirra... Unos hombres venían de oriente. Ellos habían visto una estrella diferente a las demás. Una estrella nacida hacía unos días, lo que equivaldría a un fenómeno extraordinario. Lo comentan con todos los habitantes de la ciudad en donde están. La ciudad se sobresalta por tal anuncio. Qué harías si hoy te preguntaran si Estos hombres los recordamos hoy. Hace más de dos mil años que observaron el fenómeno de la estrella, y aún hoy se observa este milagro. Una estrella ha nacido, y nace en esta Navidad, y nacerá en las siguientes navidades. Esa Estrella la llamamos Jesús. Un Niñito nacido un lejano 24 de diciembre, y que sigue recibiendo la visita de unos magos cada año. Unos magos que eran de oriente y que hoy los niños del mundo quieren muchísimo. Esos magos le llevaron unos regalos al Niño Dios, pero no se dieron cuenta de que ellos fueron quienes recibieron el mayor regalo, el conocimiento de Dios a través de la Fe. Ojalá que en este día, escuchemos la voz del recién nacido. Y si no la percibimos, lavémonos los oídos, curemos nuestra sordera de alma y no nos quedemos solos y tristes como Herodes. Propósito Vayamos al portal de Belén y con fe y sencillez, desde lo más profundo de nuestro corazón, adoremos a Jesús, prometiéndole que seguiremos siempre su estrella. Diálogo con Cristo La adoración de los magos me recuerda lo cerca que estás siempre, esperando que me dé el tiempo para contemplar y apreciar el infinito amor que me ofreces. Mi entorno social ofrece tantas falsas alegrías que necesito, como los magos, seguir tu estrella que muestra el camino, que aunque a veces parezca difícil, es el único donde podré encontrar la felicidad verdadera. Señor, ayúdame a salir a predicar tu mensaje de amor, dame la gracia de salir de mí para ejercer una labor de fermento dentro de mi familia y en el círculo de mis amigos, para comenzar a vivir un cristianismo militante, dinámico, lleno de celo, que nunca pierde de vista la estrella de tu amor.
