Kneelers for Soon-to-be-Ordained Priests Visiting St. Michael's Five men from the Charlotte diocese will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, June 17: Deacons Peter Ascik, Matthew Bean, Christopher Bond, Brian Becker, & Christian Cook. Mary's Sons Apostolate has purchased kneelers for each of these men. In advance of their priestly ordinations the kneeler visit various parishes so the faithful can kneel on them and pray for each of these men. The kneelers will be at St. Michael's from Monday, April 2 to Sunday, April 9. The kneelers will be located in front of the Our Lady of Guadalupe image. Please come and pray on them for the men will be soon be ordained to the priesthood.

It has been the custom of the Roman Catholic Church to veil the crosses and the images of the saints from the 5th Sunday of Lent until Easter one of the defining characteristics of the season known as Passiontide. This practice has profound psychological and spiritual effect on the faithful during this most intense period of preparation for Easter. As we have been denying ourselves various physical and sensual pleasures throughout the season of Lent, now the Church even denies herself the beauty of the images of the Christian family-- Our Lord and the saints--to assist us in our last two weeks of self-denial and sacrifice before the final unveiling of our Lord s resurrection from the dead. If we give ourselves to God and let Him use our talents to serve others, we will be amazed by the results. Not only will our lives be changed, but so will the lives of others.

9 Resurrección de Lázaro Juan 11, 1-45 Jesús llora con nosotros y por nosotros, sus lágrimas son de un amor infinito, de ternura y compasión. Oración Introductoria Señor, tu conoces el corazón de tus hijos y sabes bien cuáles son nuestras enfermedades. Ten misericordia de nosotros, sana con tu amor todas nuestras dolencias. Permíteme ser un reflejo de tu misericordia y de tu amor entre las personas que me rodean para que te conozcan, Dios mío, como Camino, Verdad y Vida. Meditación En realidad, esta página evangélica muestra a Jesús como verdadero hombre y verdadero Dios. Ante todo, el evangelista insiste en su amistad con Lázaro y con sus hermanas Marta y María. Subraya que «Jesús los amaba» (Jn 11, 5), y por eso quiso realizar ese gran prodigio. «Lázaro, nuestro amigo, está dormido: voy a despertarlo» (Jn 11, 11), así les habló a los discípulos, expresando con la metáfora del sueño el punto de vista de Dios sobre la muerte física: Dios la considera precisamente como un sueño, del que se puede despertar. Este señorío sobre la muerte no impidió a Jesús experimentar una sincera com-pasión por el dolor de la separación. Al ver llorar a Marta y María y a cuantos habían acudido a consolarlas, también Jesús «se conmovió profundamente, se turbó» y, por último, «lloró» (Jn 11, ). El corazón de Cristo es divino-humano: en él Dios y hombre se encontraron perfectamente, sin separación y sin confusión. Él es la imagen, más aún, la encarnación de Dios, que es amor, misericordia, ternura paterna y materna, del Dios que es Vida. La respuesta de Marta es ejemplar: «Sí, Señor, yo creo que tú eres el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios, el que tenía que venir al mundo» (Jn 11, 27). Sí, oh Señor! También nosotros creemos, a pesar de nuestras dudas y de nuestras oscuridades; creemos en ti, porque tú tienes palabras de vida eterna; queremos creer en ti, que nos das una esperanza fiable de vida más allá de la vida, de vida auténtica y plena en tu reino de luz y de paz (Benedicto XVI, Ángelus 9 de marzo de 2008). Cristo, el Señor de la vida y de la historia, nos ama y quiere lo mejor para nosotros siempre. Él es nuestro padre y se preocupa por cada uno de sus hijos. Jesús sufre con nuestras dolencias y pecados. Por eso, el Señor está dispuesto a morir por nosotros para darnos la vida. La pasión, muerte y resurrección de Jesucristo iluminan la vida de todo hombre. Nuestros sufrimientos y nuestra propia existencia sólo tienen sentido en la persona de Cristo. Siguiendo el ejemplo de Marta estamos llamados a responder con fe ante Aquél que es la resurrección y la vida. Reflexión apostólica En Marta hemos encontrado un modelo de fe sencilla. Ella cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, el Mesías; ella cree en la resurrección y en el poder infinito de Dios. Lázaro, Marta y María conquistaron un lugar especial en el corazón del Señor porque vivían una fe luminosa y llena de amor. Jesucristo encuentra verdaderos amigos en los corazones que se le abren con fe y generosidad. No tengáis miedo, abrid las puertas de vuestro corazón a Cristo. Él pide poco y lo da todo (cf. Juan Pablo II). Propósito Visitar un cementerio y hacer una oración en la tumba de algún familiar o amigo difunto. También puedo rezar un misterio del rosario por las almas del purgatorio. Diálogo con Cristo Señor, gracias por escuchar mis oraciones y por estar siempre atento a mis necesidades. Dame la gracia de sentirme verdaderamente hijo tuyo.
