Currently, we are in the process of checking with our vendors to see if the estimates that they submitted almost 2 years ago are still valid. Next week, a second collection will be taken during all the masses. The proceeds will be added to our grassroots campaign fund to enhance the appearance of our place of worship.
Corpus Christi Page Three Dear Friends, One constant refrain that we say about ourselves as Catholics is that we are an Eucharistic centered church. While this is true, what we tend to emphasize in this statement is the priestly element: that without priests we cannot have the Eucharist. What is usually not emphasized in this statement is that to be a Eucharistic community means to be Risen Christ centered. To have the courage to receive Holy Communion means to enter into communion with the Risen Lord and with the community of which we are part of. However, receiving Holy Communion has become for many a personal devotion that has nothing to do neither with the Risen Lord nor with the people around us. We come to mass in our own personal bubbles and we leave without having been touched, moved or challenged by the Holy Communion of the Risen Lord in the brothers and sisters sitting around us. What does it mean to be a community if I do not even know or care to know the people sitting next to me at mass? This Sunday we celebrate the solemnity of Corpus Christi: the Body and Blood of Christ. Holy Communion is not an object or thing that we receive, but rather the offer of communion with the Risen Lord. We receive a relationship, rather than a thing. To receive the Body of Christ implies receiving the fullness of His life; to be challenged and transformed by his life, teachings and commandments. The other side of this communion with the Risen Lord is that it demands communion with the people around us. To have communion among ourselves means to be willing to be touched, challenged and transformed by the lives, needs and concerns of the people around us. To be in communion is to form community and a community cannot exist without the relationships among us. We affirm the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, for this is in fact what we believe. The Eucharist is the real presence and not merely a symbol. However, there is another step that must follow this affirmation. The affirmation, recognition, and acceptance of the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist must also move us to the affirmation, recognition, and acceptance of the other real presence of the Risen Lord in the people around us. The Holy Eucharist cannot merely be or remain personal devotion; it has to bring us into communion with one another to form community through concrete relationships. Fr. P. Tony Diaz, CMF Parroco

We are proud of our graduates and wish them the best of luck as they move on to their respective schools, which include the following private high schools, as well as public and charter schools: Bishop Amat High School Cathedral High School Don Bosco Technical Institute Loyola High School Ramona Convent Secondary School West Covina High School Cantwell Sacred Heart High School Damien High School Los Angeles Charter School Mayfield Senior School San Gabriel Mission High School We ask that you keep these young individuals in your prayers as they embark on the next phase of their lives. DID YOU KNOW? You can help children know they are understood As parents, educators and volunteers, we want children to know that we are not only authority figures in their lives, but also people they can trust. To foster authentic trust with children, it is important that they know that you understand them. One of the simplest ways to do this is by repeating back what children are telling you. When you do this, you are affirming to the child that they are heard and understood. For complete VIRTUS Article and more communication tips email: jvienna@laarchdiocese.org. SABIA USTED?
